Mom transformed her stairs using leftover carpet and vinyl – spends just $12 on the entire project
Quarantine has brought out the crafty side of some people. While we’ve been stuck inside our homes it’s given us plenty of time to finally do those house projects or simply just relax.
Spring is here and it’s a perfect time to get that Spring cleaning projects started!
This Kent England mom was ready to renovate that’s for sure. Claire Jackson finally had enough of her mediocre staircase. So she began brainstorming a perfect way to revamp those silly steps.
Crafty moms everywhere love a great DIY and you won’t want to miss this drab to FAB transformation.
Sometimes those craft projects can get a little expensive but this mom found a way to get her staircase looking amazing for as little as 10 euros. Now that’s a bargain! Claire later told LatestDeals.co.uk,
“The idea originally came from my boyfriend Luke who said it would look good and stylish to paint the back bits of the stairs and carpet the treads.”
That little idea came to life in such a sparkling way!
The woman who lived their prior had left a lounge carpet which they kept because it was in such great condition. When they decided to redo the lounge flooring they ordered a grey vinyl which looked like a wooden laminate. So they ripped up the carpet liner from their original steps leaving the underlay on top of the steps for comfort.
Claire used that extra lounge carpet for the tops of the stairs and it couldn’t have fit more perfectly.
They originally planned on painting the face of the stairs with nice grey paint. But when they realized how much extra grey vinyl flooring they had, they figured to use that instead of painting. Which was definitely the way to go!
Claire used an adhesive spray to keep everything tightly together and carpet tacks to staple it all in.
Which she later recommended that a staple gun would have been a lot easier but due to the global shutdown she just couldn’t find one. Claire painted the side panels with a white gloss which made the grey pop so well with the house. Now the staircase has a personality of its own.
With a chic new feel, their staircase has been refurbished for as little as £10 (around $12).
It’s quite incredible what just a little enhancement does to brighten an entire home. Claire and her family are certainly taking advantage of this quarantine, and she’s delighted to keep her mind busy by picking up those house projects.
Claire and her family adore the new staircase and she even went on to explain to LatestDeals.co.uk that her house projects are essential for her mental health.
It’s very important during these dark times to keep the body and mind moving especially if your someone who is used to a fast-paced life. Now you don’t have to entirely transform for your staircase but you can certainly enjoy some simple home renovations for peace of mind.
It’s quite rewarding to watch all of your hard work pay off!
