Stop cutting your pineapples. This method is much easier and will save you a ton of time

It turns out, you might have been cutting your pineapple wrong this whole time.

Pineapples are one of the most recognizable fruits out there. A part of that fame can be blamed on the age-old argument of putting pineapples on pizzas. Or the fact that somehow, we can make food “Hawaiian” just by putting pineapples on them.

There’s a video going around on YouTube and other social media platforms showing how a Filipino fruit vendor peels and serves pineapples in record time.

What he did was cut the top and the bottom parts of the fruit. Then, he sticks his sharp knife between the fruit flesh and the skin. He carves around the fruit to separate the skin and the eyes from the fruit. Then, he cuts through the fruit making four incisions to dislodge the tough core. He makes a few more slices on the fruit and plops the juicy treat inside a bag.

He did all of that in less than a minute and without even touching the fruit’s flesh.

Quick, efficient, sanitary. But of course, not everyone has the knife skills possessed by fruit vendors.

In a video shared on Twitter, there is another way to serve pineapples.

This hack is so easy because it doesn’t need peeling and cutting, which also requires tools like a sharp knife or some eye-peeling gadget. All it needs is a tight finger grip and some arm grease to pull the fruit apart.

There are few caveats before we explain the viral video.

First, the hack works well with snack pineapples. These are the smaller variety. It measures around ten centimeters in diameter and is less fibrous than the common pineapple varieties.

Second, the hack works with regular pineapples too! But they need to ripe so the fibers won’t hold together as much.

So what you do is slice the crown of the pineapple.

If it’s a riper pineapple, you can go ahead and twist off the crown like a bottle cap.

Then, firmly but carefully, dig your thumb into the edge of a node and pry it off the other nodes. Imagine plucking corn pellets from the corn ear.

The flesh should come apart easily, leaving you with a bite-sized serving of this juicy sweet, and tangy fruit.

You can also do this to the bigger varieties but it would need extra preparations. Just like in the snack variety, cut or twist off the top crown first. Then, you have to roll it across the table first to loosen up the fibers that hold the fruit together.

Honestly, this technique is way messier than how we usually serve our pineapples.

It’s a good idea to learn it, though, just in case you find yourself stranded on a tropical island filled with pineapples.

Why are we teaching you this shockingly easy technique? Pineapples are a good source of vitamin C, an antioxidant the can help fortify your immune system. Not only that, but it also contains enzymes that can aid digestion. It also can help you recover faster from surgeries and workouts.

To whether pineapples should be on pizzas or this hack can be outdone by traditional methods, we’ll leave it up to you.
