Some dogs form incredibly close connections with a particular family member. This dachshund just can’t get enough of her grandmother.
Whenever Sally the Dachshund gets into the car with her human mother, she gets excited. That’s because she could be going to grandma’s house!
But when the car pulls up next to grandma’s home, Sally really goes crazy. In fact, she’s literally bouncing around with excitement.
Then she runs right up to grandma’s door, rushes inside and rolls over in front of grandma.
After this, the dog gives her grandma a great big hug and lots of kisses. That’s right, Sally has formed an incredibly strong connection with her grandma. No one knows quite why. But it’s safe to assume that it’s because Sally can tell that her grandma is a wonderful person!
After this greeting, the grandma blows lots of raspberries onto the dog’s neck. For some reason, Sally loves getting these!
If the two ever spend a morning together, they do it in the same fashion. The grandmother sits on her sofa and looks out the window, watching all of the birds that land in her yard. Sally is keen to look with her and seems to share the same fascination with spotting the different species of birds.
Luckily, Sally gets to spend plenty of time with her favorite person. Sally’s mom drives to the grandmother’s home two to three times a week.
And whenever they spend a day apart, the grandma calls her grandaughter up and asks how Sally is doing.
The two became best friends at first sight.
Just a day after the granddaughter adopted Sally, she introduced the puppy to her grandma. The dog instantly formed a connection, sniffing at her and immediately going in for a cuddle.
The grandmother gave Sally special attention from that moment on. She would speak to the dog as if she were a person, asking if she could pick her up. Sally seemed to really like this communication.
Sally was instrumental in helping the grandma get through the toughest time in her life.
In 2018, the grandma’s husband passed away. They had been married for many, many years. At first, the grandma didn’t know how to cope. But Sally was there for her. The dog became extra affectionate. Clearly, the animal knew that the grandma was going through something difficult.
The grandma treats Sally better than any other family member (which is really saying something, as she treats them all incredibly well!)
For instance, whenever the grandma is eating, she can’t help but share some of her food with Sally.
But then something created a rift in Sally and the grandma’s friendship. The grandma got a statue of a dachshund that looked just like Sally.
When Sally first saw this statue, she was angry. She thought she’d been replaced! Then the grandma picked the statue up, and Sally got really jealous! Luckily, Sally worked out that the statue wasn’t real and that she was still the grandma’s favorite thing.
A video documenting Sally and the grandma’s friendship then appeared on YouTube, where it has made quite an impact.
In just under two months, it has gained over 850,000 views. It also has more than 37,000 likes and 2,200 comments. People have been saying things like this:
Hopefully, the grandma and Sally will have many more happy years together!
