When Harry met Sally, wait, no. This isn’t a movie, but it sure should be. This is when grandma (Nan) met Sally the Dachshund. They immediately had a connection and mutually fell in love with one another.

The type of story that movies are made of.

The video at the bottom is absolutely adorable, and you get to see the mini Dachshund meet Nan for the first time. She is so little.

Sally’s mom Beckii will bring the little pup to visit Nan two or three times a week, and they love the time they get to spend together.

“When we get to Nan’s house,” Beckii narrates, “Sally will trot straight through, get on the floor, roll over and then Nan will just scratch her and give her a kiss, and blow raspberries on her neck and Sally loves it.”

Sally and Nan have their morning routine that they never stray away from.

While Nan is having her cereal and coffee, Sally sits on her lap, and together they watch the birds in Nan’s yard. Beckii says they can do this for hours together.

Sally has helped Nan get through a tough time.

Two years ago, Nan lost her husband. The very next day Sally was there for her, offering kisses and her belly to be rubbed.

Beckii believes that little Sally played a huge part in helping Nan overcome the sadness.

“Sally was there the day after my granddad died. Sally was with Nan all the time. I know that Sally definitely helped my Nan through that horrendous time.”

Beckii and Nan video call almost every day. They check in on each other but, ultimately, Nan just wants to ask how Sally is doing. The bond is so cute.

84-year-old Nan treats Sally just like her granddaughter. She holds her in her arms just like a baby, snuggling and cuddling, kisses her on the nose, and even sings to her. And just like a grandma would do, she spoils her grandchildren. She gives Sally extra treats, including a little bit of her dessert at times.

“Nan actually does spoil her, but Nan’s the boss of our family. So if Nan wants to give Sally an extra treat, then I’m not going to say no.”

More recently, Nan received a statue of a Dachshund that looked just like Sally.

The day Sally met that statue, the jealousy began. Nan will pick up the statue, just like she would with Sally. Sally will bark and pull Nan’s hands away from the statue. She wants the attention all to herself.

For elderly people, pets have proven to be a great help in reducing stress, lower blood pressure, and of course, increase physical activity. This case is no exception.

Pets don’t dwell on the past or the future, and they mentally allow humans to go into their world of thinking. They enable people to live and enjoy the moment.
