Dad and daughter come together and completely nail impromptu Stevie Wonder routine
The year 2020 has been marked by the coronavirus pandemic and the problems associated with it. Michael and Ali Hoffman, from Carrollton, Texas, have found a way to cheer up their YouTube audience amidst the social, financial, and health issues the world is dealing with.
Since most of us are stuck at home anyway, why not use that time and exercise a bit? It makes the immune system stronger. And well, dance is a form of exercise, right? Check out the goofy family and their fancy choreography. You’ll laugh, and you’ll feel the warmth of family love.
Isolation, who?!
Hoffmans uploaded the first “stuck at home” dance video in March 2020, and at this point, they’re used to going viral.
Originally, Ali Hoffman, a youth minister at a local church in Carrollton, talked her father Michael into doing a lip-sync dance challenge. “She says that we’re going to do something silly,” describes the proud father, adding that he’s “always ready to jump on Ali’s happy train”.
Five years ago, the family was stuck at home during an ice day storm, and that’s when they filmed the first family dance in their kitchen. In a year when pretty much everyone was stuck at home, Ali and her daddy decided to lift people’s spirits once again. In the video, published in March, you can see Ali busting a move with both her mom and her dad.
That video was viewed almost 2 million times on YouTube. So of course they had to do it again. In November 2020, Michael and Ali were back with the dance challenge, this time swaying around to “Faith” by Stevie Wonder featuring Ariana Grande. Ali’s mom couldn’t join them this time, however, because she was at work.
“Our reason to do this was to inject some light and levity into the world right now”
Ali used these words of encouragement to explain her family’s reasoning behind posting the videos on social media. She also. says tha.t “fun is a part of the family DNA”.
Judging from these videos, she’s clearly not joking.
We must also mention that Ali’s parents celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in 2020. Congratulations!
The happiest kitchen in Texas
As the Stevie Wonder dance video begins, Ali is alone in the kitchen as she busts some original moves to “Faith,” lip-syncing Stevie’s part.
Her curly hair is all over the place, Ali’s enjoying the moment, and then her father appears just in time to catch up on Ariana’s verse. The two twist around the kitchen, their faces reflecting pure and utter joy.
“America, we have faith in you!”
Dad is particularly using the spotlight, and the daughter is more than happy to share it! What a perfect song to cure people’s bad mood and bring some faith into hearts across the nation? Ali and her dad are clearly having a blast, and the best part is that it’s completely spontaneous.
There’s no rehearsed choreography, preparations, or planning – they simply pressed ‘play’ and seized the moment.
Almost 200k YouTube views
The Hoffman family touched everyone who’s seen the video, there’s no doubt about that. They’re adorable together – and they both can cut a rug!
We just love dad’s moves though, because he keeps up with Ali effortlessly.
Just look at Ali’s smile in the very end, it’s priceless
When their little performance comes to an end, Ali approaches the camera to turn it off, and that’s when she flashes us with the beautiful, sincere smile of contentment.
She’s proud of both of them, and it transfers to the audience right away.
