Dad builds fancy wood cabin for his dog in the backyard
Maya doesn’t just have one forever home, she has two.
She has her very own little house that her daddy built her so she could play outside when he’s not home.
David Connolly, owner of Fencing Decking Specialists NI in the UK, will sometimes take Maya to the jobsite when he goes to work.
But when that’s not possible, Maya will stay home.
Maya would rather spend the day outside when her dad’s not around.
So, her dad built her a special shelter so she could stay safe when she is home alone.
“Maya is my best friend,” Connolly told The Dodo. “She is a loyal companion and I am trying my best to make her life as enjoyable and comfortable for her as I possibly can. Building her a comfortable little home is the least I could do.”
Maya’s cabin is surrounded by a picket fence and greenery.
There’s also a big red mailbox.
And this isn’t a rustic log cabin. It’s a modern, clean-looking cabin with sleek wooden slats.
There’s a ramp that leads up to a little front porch with a railing where Maya can lie and look out into the yard.
There’s also some nice potted plants, a window dressed with curtains, and a sign over the door for a homey and personalized touch. The inside is just as luxurious as the outside.
“It has an insulated floor, porch, night light, and a small heater as well, for the winter time,” Connolly said. “I built her cabin raised off the ground so as when she is lying inside her bedroom or on her balcony deck she can see over the top of the fence at passersby.”
If dad is running late past dark, Maya is still able to when the light turns on.
If it’s cold, she will stay warm.
If it’s rainy she can go inside where there’s a nice cozy duvet. Thanks to dad’s handiwork, Maya has the perfect place to hang out when she’s hanging by herself during all types of weather.
But when her dad comes home, Maya is always by his side in their big house.
Connolly posted a video of Maya’s cabin on his company’s Facebook page where it went viral.
More than 5.6 million people have viewed that video!
“No one builds a house like this for a dog and doesn’t love the dog to pieces. I’m sure 100% this is an outdoor dog during the day while he’s at work like it says An is next to him in bed at night,” one commenter wrote.
“That’s awesome! Anyone who takes the time to build such a nice house for their dog on their property LOVES HIS/HER ANIMAL PEOPLE I bet that dog has quite a sweet life! The detail in that build from the owner’s skilled craft speaks for itself,” another said.
