Sharidon Johnson has posted a few dozen home videos on YouTube, but none have been as popular as a sweet dance-off he engaged in with his daughter back in 2014.

The video has now been viewed over 1.9 MILLION times since it was uploaded that winter.

In his caption, Johnson says he “was pulling up the carpet and listening to old school hip hop” when his daughter came up to him and said ‘Dad lets Dance battle!’ Let’s do it!”

When the camera comes on and the video begins, Johnson’s daughter is already busting her moves in the living room as the family dog watches on with curiosity. Should he join in? It sure looks like everyone is having a good time! But the pup decides that now is not the time.

Dad still has a broom in his hands since he was sweeping up after his carpet-pulling project and he watches his daughter dance to the music.

As she does a jump and spin, he sets the broom aside and decides to take his turn, slowly grooving while walking towards the space serving as the main dance floor.

Dad’s moves are classic old school – not as much jumping around but more arm movements in rhythm with the beat.

And there’s some solid footwork there too!

It appears that when one opponent points at the other, it’s their turn to show off their moves.

So we’re back to our young dancer, who shows just what youthful bones and joints can accomplish as she flexes and bends.

The family dog is still debating whether or not to get involved. It probably seems like the perfect time to start jumping around, but he or she remains part of the audience at a respectful distance.

This girl has some creative moves! We’re not sure where she learned some of them, but her personality shines through as she tries to show up her dad. Her fast feet don’t stop moving and we wonder if dad is going to get another chance in Round 2.

Oh, but he is! She welcomes him back to the dance floor and he immediately breaks into some advanced arm movement to rival all her popping and karate kicks.

There’s definitely a generational divide in the moves (as well as an energy level difference – let’s remember dad just got done ripping up the carpet) but it’s clear that both father and daughter love to dance and have had some practice!

Aside from the common trolls who are better off ignored, most commenters were heartened to see these two bond. Of course, it doesn’t hurt when you’re introducing your kid to one of the great hip hop groups of all time – A Tribe Called Quest.

In the end, the vast majority of fans gave the victory to the daughter.

“[H]ands down his daughter got him…very nice daddy/daughter dance battle…but the winner is HIS DAUGHTER,” proclaimed one viewer.

While we like the old school moves, she did even manage to attempt some break dancing, so we can’t argue that she gets extra points for that!

It’s pretty clear that dad is proud of his little dancer, even if he ended up getting owned by her in the end.
