Dad defends his decision to let 13-foot-python “play” with his baby daughter
You always need to be careful when your pet is with your child.
Even if we’re talking about a cat or a dog, unexpected things can happen.
Of course, it’s rare that a dog or a cat acts violently with your baby.
But if these animals can sometimes misbehave, things can be much worse with more aggressive or dangerous animals.
Most parents probably wouldn’t pick a python as a “safe” pet to interact with their child.
But, believe it or not, a man in White Lake Michigan did just that. And he even filmed the interaction.
In the video, you can see his snake pet Nay-Nay slithering over his baby. What’s even worse is that the snake in question is a 13-foot Burmese python. We’re talking about a huge predator that could do the unthinkable in a second.
The man in question is 34-year-old Jamie Guarino. He’s known for being a professional snake handler. In fact, he claims to be able to control snakes to the point of making them safe.
He even speaks to both of them in a baby voice.
As you can imagine, the video gained notoriety in less than expected. And, of course, many of the comments were quite negative.
Because of the viral video, ABC News decided to interview Guarino. He told the media outlet he didn’t understand why people reacted in a negative manner.
“When people see this clip they mostly react with fear or negativity. And I don’t understand why. This is an embedded fear, and I think people are brainwashed. To those of you who might see this video as irresponsible or dangerous, please take a minute. Don’t judge based on fear or something you don’t understand. Snakes can be, and are, loving animals,” he said.
Guarino swore that his daughter was in no danger. He said there was no chance that anything could happen since he raised Nay-Nay from day one.
Of course, different studies have concluded this isn’t any sort of guarantee. After all, snakes are so aggressive and unpredictable they could kill their owners.
These types of situations have happened so much many people say these can’t be called accidents. In fact, many experts have said it is always dangerous to have a snake as a pet.
Despite this reality, this wasn’t the case of Guarino, who still seems quite confident. However, it is impossible to watch the video without feeling scared. And not only because of the snake’s size but also because Alyssa is just an innocent baby.
Of course, anyone is free to love the animals they want.
The criticism in this situation is that Guarino involved his daughter. And even if he is, perhaps, the greatest professional in the area, something could have happened.
So even if you love snakes, it isn’t recommended to own one if you have kids in your house.
