Wife puts baby's face on t-shirt and husband freaks out during rinse cycle

Having a baby is one of the greatest achievements one can ever have. We love them with all our hearts and protect them at all costs.

So just imagine the horror this dad felt when he saw his baby’s face looking out at him from inside the washing machine? One father could barely believe his eyes when he saw a shirt in the laundry machine with his baby’s face on it, leading him to believe it was actually his baby trapped in the machine.

The hilarious photo was uploaded by ARussianAndHisBike in Imgur showing his baby’s face pressed up against the glass, sporting a weirdly cheerful smile. This frightened dad said that he almost had a heart attack before he realized what it really was.

But on a serious note, you may not think of your washing machine as dangerous, but if you have young children in the house, that appliance can be deadly.

In fact, since 2014, there have been about 3,000 emergency-room-treated washer-associated injuries among children 5 and younger. Most of the cases were related to falls.

It is vital for parents to explain to their young children that appliances are not toys, and they can be very harmful. Remember that young kids are at a developmental stage that makes them especially curious.

“The job of a child between ages 1 and 4 is to explore and to find out how the world works,” says Ben Hoffman, M.D., a pediatrician in Portland, Ore., and chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention. “They’re curiosity machines, and by nature, impulsive.”

Hoffman also mentioned that water fascinates children and since they see their parents around these appliances seeing what was inside, it naturally piques their curiosity.

Another danger is that a curious toddler could crawl behind the appliance and pull out the drainage hose or power cord, resulting in burns or other injuries. There’s also a chance for them to lock themselves inside a front-load washer which can lead to suffocation.

Thankfully there are a number of ways to childproof your appliances, but it is recommended to hire a professional. When it comes to the general laundry room, best if you keep this in mind too:

“Definitely keep all of the soap/fabric softener/whatever on a high shelf so your kid can’t get to it. Things that are colorful and smell good are very tempting to little kids.”

Now we can fully understand why this dad almost had a heart attack after using his child’s face inside the washer.

The hilarious photo of course went viral with a whopping 100,000 views and counting. The concerned dad then urged others to make sure they put a ‘warning note’ on the machine to avoid stress in a similar situation.

“Please, if you are ever washing your favorite shirt with a picture of your child on it, just put a warning note on the washer or something,” reads the caption over on Imgur.
