Dad gives honest review of his daughter’s new “restaurant”

Earlier in June, Chris Kyle decided to grab lunch at a local business. Very local.

Kyle’s daughter Ava has a little kitchen of her own right in the house and the aspiring chef “cooked” and served her dad his meal.

Of course, like many people, the customer’s immediate reaction was to leave a review for the restaurant for not being entirely up to snuff. Nevermind that it belonged to his toddler daughter.

But what he wrote on his Instagram page about his dining experience is going viral for all the right reasons.

“So I tried to support another Black Owned Business for lunch today. It’s called Ava’s Kitchen, just opened end of April. It’s a very clean establishment, but whewww let me tell you about this owner…”

Like any other customer who leaves a review, Kyle had some criticisms (but most were constructive – unlike most reviews).

First, he addressed the decor:

“First off, I asked why there are balloons on my chair, and it’s not my birthday? She talm’bout, mind yah business; those are Mommy’s.”

Pretty sassy owner, but one has to admit that the decor is up to her in her own restaurant.

Besides, it looks like there’s a long line to get into Ava’s Kitchen, so she must be doing something right.

Next, Kyle talked about the wait time:

“I been waiting on my order to get done for 45 minutes, and I’m the only customer here. She was making good progress at first, then she stopped for 20 minutes to go watch Paw Patrol.”

Well, we suppose that’s a reason to complain. Fine dining does take time, but seeing the wait staff watching television is understandably frustrating.

While the proud dad said customer service could be improved, he wanted to give this Black-owned business another chance.

“Overall the customer service could be better, but the cook is a cutie; so I’ll give her another chance. Let’s not give up on Black businesses so fast after one mistake.”

Tens of thousands of people liked the post and it quickly went viral as the two were interviewed by multiple news outlets.

It turns out Ava is quite the character outside the kitchen as well.

“Ava’s personality is absolutely amazing,” Kyle told Bored Panda. “She is such a silly girl. From the moment she wakes up, she’s laughing, smiling, and playing the entire day.”

Since the doting dad is an entrepreneur who works from home, he’s with little Ava all day and is a frequent playmate.

And while he wasn’t sure about buying the tot the elaborate kitchen setup in the first place, he’s now very glad he did.

“When my wife made the purchase, I was hesitant about spending a few hundred dollars on it…It has been worth every penny. Ava is the star of her own little world when she is ready to play.”

Now, at just 18 months old, Ava’s Kitchen is one of the most popular restaurants around.

Unfortunately, with social distancing in effect, she’s been forced to make some changes to the restaurant. Upon her dad’s second visit, he reported that the kitchen is currently closed:

“So I gave the restaurant another visit today. To my surprise, she was closed for business…Since I’m a loyal customer, and I just happen to own a production company, I’m installing these sneeze guards to help stop the spread of germs.”

Ava has no idea about her culinary fame, but now that she’s got her own Instagram account, we’re sure to see more of the outgoing girl.
