Frustrated dad teaches his bully son a lesson, then films it so he'll never forget
No one likes bullies… Especially when you are the parent of one. You hate to think that your child could be hateful, and then of course, you have to wonder what made them a bully in the first place. But you can’t always blame yourself.
The good news is that, if your child is a bully, you can always teach them a good lesson.
This Virginia-based father of two, Bryan Thornhill, realized that one of his children was a bully. He can’t stand bullies in general, so he was fed up. He knew that something needed to be done.
His 10-year-old son Hayden was found to be bullying a classmate on the school bus just a couple of years ago. There were harsh consequences to follow — Hayden was no longer allowed to ride the school bus to school since he was being a bully.
When Hayden’s father found out about this, he was mad. More importantly, he didn’t want his son’s bullying tendencies to get worse, so he decided to take action and get ahead of it while he still could.
Thornhill decided to teach his son a good old fashioned lesson. And in case there were any other parents or children that needed to see it, he decided to film the whole thing.
“My son has finally gotten in trouble on the bus enough that he actually got kicked off the bus for three days, because he was being a little bully, which I do not tolerate,” Thornhill explains in the video.
As Thornhill explains this to the people watching at home, he is driving behind his son who is late for school. He is walking in the rain in the street.
Since Hayden was banned from taking the bus for three days, his father made him run to school every day. That was the initial punishment. But then it got a little bit more intense because it happened to be raining on this particular day.
Thornhill figured that the rain shouldn’t stop Hayden from running to school though… So that’s what Hayden did. He ran to school in the rain as his father watched and poked jokes at him.
“The good news is, I guess, he keeps up a pretty good mile pace at six miles per hour so far,” he said.
Thornhill lightened up the mood just a touch with his funny jokes but ultimately, this was a punishment after all. It was both funny and harsh but hey, we have to give the father kudos for not letting his son get away with bullying fellow classmates!
After he began running to school, Hayden’s attitude shifted and began to change. He was definitely getting better and his teachers also approved of this method. Plus, he was getting a good workout!
“Hayden now is curious to see exactly how fast he can run to school in morning. So we are gonna see what he can do and time and distance it. He know is motivated to become a gold medal runner,” his father shared on Facebook, funnily enough.
This may have started as a punishment, but it looks like it actually just turned out for the best! Go dad, go!
