Dalmatian gives birth to puppy after puppy as vet says “there surely can’t be any more”

Dalmations are one of the most well-known, although unusual dog breeds.

It’s probably because of the 1996 film “101 Dalmations.” But Dalmations have a long history behind those spotted coats!

One mama dog recently gave birth to a HUGE litter, which is pretty amazing.

A dog owner from Texas recently made headlines when the story of her dog giving birth went viral.

Dr. Brittni Turner, who works at the Fredericksburg Veterinary Center in Texas, assisted with the births.

Luna, the mother dog, went into labor around midnight on Thursday.

Luna and her human mom gave birth to five puppies during the night, but by 7:00 AM, things had come to a halt.

Birthing a dog is much easier than it is for a human, so this was not natural.

Luna’s owner decided to bring the dog to the clinic.

They thought that bringing her would be helpful because larger dogs do not have complications.

When she walked in, it was obvious that something was wrong. Luna was rushed into surgery after it was found that the sixth puppy in the litter had breeched.

They discovered that there were a LOT more puppies to come after looking inside!

The puppies continued to emerge one after the other.

“I kept saying to the owner, ‘There surely can’t be anymore!’ And they kept saying, ‘There surely can’t be anymore!'” Dr. Turner told Newsweek.

“I then said, ‘I know there’s at least two more.’ Then I would say, ‘Oh, there’s definitely one more. No, there’s two more.'”

They were so taken aback by the sheer volume that they kept miscounting them!

To assist with the massive delivery, the clinic called for “all hands on deck.”

Everyone in the clinic was needed to pitch in — even the receptionist! Everything was soon over and they were able to get a final count.

There were five puppies born naturally and another eleven via C-section. A TOTAL of 16 PUPPIES! You read it right!

The final count was 16 puppies, which is an extraordinary number!

“We are happy to report that all 16 puppies and mom are doing great following surgery,” the clinic wrote. “It wasn’t 101 Dalmatians, but it was enough for us to have our hands full this morning!!”

Luna has been a wondrous mother since giving birth.

She has been taking excellent care of her children. And she’s expressing her mothering abilities.

The world record for the most Dalmation births is nineteen. This occurred in 2019, so they were three short of breaking it.

Still, 16 dogs in a home is a lot of work!

Can you imagine 16 puppies and their mother running around the house?

Generally, one dog is more than enough for a family. It seems that they will need to find a few more buyers to keep their house from becoming a circus!

The owner may be able to share them with other dog lovers too.

With so many Dalmations around, they might need to keep an eye out for a certain Disney villain who has a thing for Dalmation puppies.
