Dance duo delivers steamy routine that will go down in ballroom history
When Swing and Tango dancers Jason Colacino and Katie Boyle put on this performance more than 11 years ago, little did they know that they would go down in ballroom history with it.
Jason and Katie had been long-time dance partners before this performance and they had danced numerous times together.
These two amazing dancers knew exactly how to portray their dance to the audience without making their performance feel dirty or flashy, but still creating original and sexy choreographies.
In the video in question, the pair are dancing to a bluesy kind of music that already prepares the audience for the kind of dance that’s going to follow.
In fact, some of the viewers commented that their performance is a “literal interpretation” of the music that accompanies it, and we tend to agree.
Without fancy outfits, with no props around, Jason and Katie only use their bodies and dance skills to impress the audience.
Their dance is impeccable and their moves scream with passion!
Honestly, they are so light and airy that you kind of feel they don’t even touch the dancefloor- it’s as if they’re flying above it.
Some of their moves are slow and sensual, while others are quick, but they are always executed with great skill.
One of the highlights of the show is when Jason unexpectedly does the splits, and the audience cheers for him.
As difficult as this move is, the dancer doesn’t seem to put much effort into it- it all looks so natural and ordinary for someone like him.
The live audience was super enthusiastic about their performance, as were the viewers that watched the YouTube video.
The community has loved it so much it has gone viral with more than 1.5 million views to this day.
“Have never seen such awesome light footed dancers. Graceful, perfect in every way. Bravo!” someone wrote, while someone else commented: “This talent and quality made their performances awesomely enjoyable.”
Today, Katie Boyle is one of the best and most sought-after instructors of ballroom dancing. Sadly, however, Jason Colacino is no longer around.
Colacino was born in San Leandro, California, in 1977 and he started country line dancing when he was a teenager. He was a talented dancer and he soon mastered Swing, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Jazz, Ballet, and Ballroom dancing.
In his career as a professional dancer, he participated with his partners in numerous competitions and even earned titles, such as a US Open Swing title and three World Cabaret titles.
Over the last seven years of his life, he lived in New York where he danced, choreographed, and taught dancing.
Unfortunately, a few days before his 32nd birthday, he passed away.
His family explained that he died from pneumonia and cardiac arrest due to an enlarged heart. People who viewed the video in question were later shocked to find out that this talented young man is not around anymore.
“I really wish this guy was still around. The WCS scene and the world would be better for it,” a viewer wrote in the comment section.
Jason may have passed away, but his legacy remains and the world will remember just how amazing he was through videos like this one.
