Dance studio receives complaints for noise and challenges local police department to settle it

As the saying goes, if you canât beat them, join them.
When it comes to the safety of our communities, the police force has always been one of the keystones. They patrol the streets, their visibility deters criminals, and most of all, they can engage a community.
Weâve seen countless videos of police officers at their best when helping people through challenges. Weâve also seen them in their goofiest, which always makes for an incredible viral video.
It all started with a call âcomplaining loud noises.â
The call reported noises coming from a nearby dance studio. Detective Sergeant Gary Sanders responded to the complaint along with other officers.

âThese girls are always dancing, have the music up too loud and donât respect their neighbors,â he said in the video, âWeâll see what they have to say this time.â
The girls were not pleased when the police arrived at the studio.
Officer Sanders ordered the girls to turn off the music but they resisted. The girls reasoned that they were just having a dance party.

The officer was not convinced, however, and insisted to write the studio a ticket. Thatâs when the teacher was struck with an idea.
Instead of accepting the ticket, the teacher challenges the police officers to a dance-off.
Obviously, as officers of law and order, you respond accordingly. To settle the case once and for all, Officer Sanders got on his radio and called for backup â like backup dancers.
The police from the Pierce County Sheriffâs Department, not wanting their honor to be tarnished, sent in their best people.

The dance-off commenced with the girls and the cops showing off their best moves.
The cops tried their best to match the skills, but even their mascot was not pleased with their gangly movements, outdated steps, and awkward poses.

The little girls, however, danced with ease in their perfectly timed choreography. In the end, however, the cops got their groove on as well when they performed a dance number with the girls. Dance off? Maybe. Flash mob? A big yes.
Officer Sanders said that the initiative started when they noticed no one included them in social engagement videos. Other departments were challenged with lip-sync videos and the Pierce County Sheriffâs Department felt they were the âlast kid on the playground picked for the team.â
For their social engagement initiative, they did something different.
They mimicked the TV show Cops and staged a situation with Image Dance Studio. The cops trained with the girls for their routine.

They performed the dance-off at the Cheney Stadium in Tacoma where the girls sported baseball jerseys.
People on the internet were pleased with the departmentâs initiative.
âI think that is awesome for cops and deputies to interact with our youth in such a positive way. Please, please more of this!â said one comment.

âThis is the kind of community involvement that will save a lot of lives, including the cops. Loved this!â said another.
The video, which had over 10 million views, ended with a message of gratitude to the children of Officer Daniel McCartney who passed away in the line of duty last January 2018.
Watch how this dance studio settled their ticket with a dance-off.
