Dancers heat up floor with improv dance earning 3M views

Dancing is definitely more than just grooving to the dance floor. It’s an expression of oneself – a way to give meaning to a song, a way to express words and emotions using body language – an art.

Dance improv is one of our favorites – why? It’s because of the excitement that it brings not just to the audience but to the dancers as well.

It’s also a test of skills when one dancer is paired with another – to establish that connection and dance together.

Let’s face it; it’s not that easy to dance with someone when you don’t have a connection, right? Watching improv dancers may make it look easy, but it’s not.

Both dancers need to have confidence in their skills.

They also need to feel comfortable to be able to work well with their partners. One miscalculation can ruin the dance number. If one tries to outshine the other, it will show in their performance.

That’s the reason why improv dance numbers are so precious.

Just take a look at Ben and Tessa’s dance number for Improv West Coast Swing dance in the Champions Jack and Jill at Summer Hummer 2011.

The adorable duo bagged the second place in this contest, and you are about to see why.

Ben Morris was able to get the chance to pick the name of his partner – the stunning Tessa Cunningham. Then, it was Tessa’s turn to choose the first song that they will dance to – the second song would be a surprise.

Both Ben and Tessa seem to be at ease with each other.

Both of them playful, jolly, and they seem to be enjoying each other’s company, too.

The partners started grooving as the song ‘The Way You Make Me Feel by Kurt Hunter started playing.

Their connection was undeniable!

Ben Morris is already a name that is well-known in the dance world.

A Champion Lindy Hopper, as well as a two time World Swing Dance Champion, Ben loves to travel the world and compete, thus enhancing his dancing skills in the process.

He’s bubbly, funny, and is a real gentleman. He always makes sure that his partner feels at ease with him so they can both enjoy the dance number.

Tessa Cunningham is also a Champion West Coast Swing dancer, aside from her awards, she currently ranks as the number one West Coast Swing dancer in Canada, and second in the world!

She is one of the best dancers in this generation, and along with her regular dance partner, Myles Munroe, they travel around the globe to compete, perform, and even teach.

What we love about this performance is the relaxing, sexy, funny, and sweet feel of the duo.

No wonder they won second place!

They seem to be enjoying each other’s company, smiling, and even having fun while slaying their performance. We also love the song, and they were able to give it a beautiful meaning as well.

Imagine seeing this exceptional performance and realizing that they didn’t even practice, that this dance number was all improv dancing!

We also can’t get enough of how this duo managed to switch to a funkier groove when ‘Funky Mama by Danny Gatton’ started playing.

They still did well on the second song! Overall, their dance number is something to enjoy.

It’s more than just a great performance; it was enjoyable to watch!

Today, their dance video (posted by Ben Morris last 2011) already has more than 3M views.

People who have watched their performance can’t help but give praise to these two.

“There is nothing sexier than a good dancer,” said one comment.

Another put it in his top 3 favorite “Ben improvs”:

“This is in my top three favorite Ben improvs… I can watch it again and again and never get tired with its originality! You always dance in the music and with the words which makes no two dances alike… Superb job! :)”

“That was fabulous. I never stopped smiling throughout,” shared another one.

We totally agree, and we feel the same way too. Dancing isn’t just about winning, competing, or proving something. Dancing should be enjoyed, just like what Tessa and Ben did in this performance.
