High school students pull off mind-bending twist at talent show
The year is 2010. Everything is right in the world. Justin Bieber is skyrocketing to the top charts, the US experienced a tomato shortage, and most importantlyâŚmorph suits are rising in fame.
Morph Suits were the Kale of 15-year-olds. They just showed up everywhere.
Every 15-year-old in America wanted their own, colored morph suit to run around and prank people in. More than just a pranking tool for anonymity, morph suits are used I a variety of applications from dancing, acting and more!
Beyer High drops wild dance routine using morph suites in an incredible way.
One of the coolest amateur morph suit uses ever HAS to be this high school. With a troupe of 20 strong, Beyer High Dance Production shocked their audience with one of the best school dances!
The aptly named âBag Danceâ was a dance performance put on by Beyer High School Dance Production at a school show.
The Bag Dance is a collection of dances choreographed to be incredibly funny and entertaining.
As they perform different dances and songs throughout the years, they keep their identities hidden behind their morphâŚbags?
Using the morph suits allows the dancers to create colors, shapes, patterns where you normally wouldnât have any.
Part of the skill that these students have in choreographing the dance is how they use their elements to their advantage. Without the bags, the dance simply doesnât work. They do a great job of incorporating the various elements into the routine and allowing their creativity to show.
Starting somber, they soon launch into âI Feel Goodâ, catapulting the energy of the room up!
The beginning of the routine is lit dimly. The gray and black bagged dancers are front and center, making things seem formal and somber. All of a sudden, the brighter colored dancers jump the front as the lights come up and “I Feel Good” blasts through the speakers!
U Can’t Touch This Bag Dance
Leaving “I Feel Good,” the team launches into another favorite hit. “U Can’t Touch This” is a song that you are forced to sing by your own brain every time it plays. The team does a great job of staying in unison with one of the more difficult sections of the dance.
Creating shapes and movement, the team does a great job of keeping you engaged.
Keeping people entertained for 3:43 seconds (the length of the video) is no easy feat! The Beyer team does a great job of incorporating different elements into their dance. One of the elements is using the legs of the bags to create shapes in sequences. The effect is the flashing of different colored shapes to the music they are playing. By doing this, you keep guessing what piece is coming next!
The songs are all classics.
There is a reason weddings all play the same songs on the dance floor. People like to dance to them! The team did a great job of selecting the perfect songs for the routine. During the performance I found myself nodding my head and mouthing the words to the song. Even now, I have them stuck in my head.
The crowd AND the internet loved it.
With almost 300 thousand views, people loved it! Check out some of their responses:
