Daughter immediately breaks down when parents unexpectedly bring a new sibling home

Families who decide to adopt a child have to be ready to give a lot of love and affection. Adoption is a selfless act that can be very rewarding when all that love is given back to you. According to childwelfare.gov, around 7 million Americans are adopted. Moreover, one out of every 25 U.S. families with children has an adopted kid.

We’ll take a peek into the home of one of those families who have both biological and adopted children. The Pruitt parents posted a video of them coming home with an adopted baby as a surprise. Their daughters’ reaction is heart-warming.

“Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. And having both is a blessing.”

The unknown author of these beautiful words has put in short what we’ve already known. Family comes first, and the Pruitts wanted a big family. Kasi and Shane Pruitt, from Rockwall Texas, decided to adopt a child.

It’s wasn’t their first kid, they were already proud parents to their two biological daughters, Raygen, 11, and Harper, 6. Adoption was nothing new for them either. Kasi and Shane have already adopted two brothers Titus and Elliot.

The couple felt that they could provide a comfortable living for another kiddo, and they went for it.

In 2017, the Pruitts opened the doors of their home to another baby

There was a catch, though. Mom and dad thought about giving their little ones a big surprise. Kasi has spoken about adopting another kid, but she never shared the exact adoption date with anyone except her husband.

In an interview with ABC News, father Shane explained that their children “had no clue.” Everyone was excited about the new member coming soon, but they didn’t know when was that going to happen. Raygen and Harper wished for a baby sister and often asked their parents if they got a call from the adoption center. When mommy and daddy received the long-waited call, it was hard for them to hide their happiness, but they did.

On the morning of July 27, Kasi and Shane got up early, prepared everything, and walked out of their home, knowing that they’d come back with a bundle of joy. Because it was a surprise, dad Shane filmed their daughter’s reaction.

The younger daughter, Harper, shouted “Are you kidding me?” and quickly ran to see the baby. Raygen took a minute to put herself together and started crying with joy. It’s beautiful to see such a close-knit family.

Here is what you need to know about adopting a child in the United States

Families who decide to adopt a kid can choose one of the three main options – going through an agency, a foster care system, or a private attorney.

Adoptive parents must complete a ‘home study’, which is done to eliminate any legal, financial, or various other obstacles. While we’re on the financial side of the process, you have to know that adoption can cost up to $50,000. Luckily, different resources will help you offset some of the expenses. We’re talking about grant and loan opportunities, donations, or adoption tax credit. Let’s hope that a lot more children will find their happy home in the future.
