Deep-voiced football player silences entire crowd by singing a few notes
A high school football game has SO much more than just the game to look forward to – and no, we aren’t talking about the underage drinking that most of us partook in. The band performances, the cheer squad, and the national anthem all have moments that people get excited for!
Singing the national anthem has become a moment of pride and symbolism for whoever performs it.
Usually, a talented singer from a local church or even one of the students on the choir team at school performs at the start of the game. Occasionally, someone truly talented had a chance to perform. Whispers went through the crowd as people hissed, “that kid is going to be REALLY good one day.”
Those moments don’t happen often, but they still happen! One football player recently had the privilege of being whispered about.
Sam Keith was a sophomore at Nashoba Regional High School and gave the performance of his life – and nobody was ready for it! His unforgettable moment where he sang The Star-Spangled Banned would probably go down in Nashoba High history!
Even more, it was filmed and went totally viral on the internet.
With mobile phones in everyone’s pocket, we rarely miss things as good as this performance was. What makes it so unique, however, is that Sam was actually a part of the football team!
Standing up from the pre-game warmup, Sam pulls off his helmet and gets ready to sing.
If there’s one way to prove that you aren’t a one-trick pony, this may be it! To give a singing performance while wearing pads and cleats shows off two talents by itself!
A quick look into Sam’s life shows us just how talented he is!
Besides playing football and singing, Sam is an actor! He has a YouTube channel where he displays clips of plays and performances he regularly is a part of. He’s been in plays like Footloose, Addams Family, and Les Miserables!
With his impressive voice, it’s no wonder he was chosen to do the national anthem!
Walking up to the microphone with his number 59 jersey proudly on display, he took it in his hands and started singing. We have no idea if Sam’s classmates had ever heard him singing before (or even if his fellow athletes knew he was planning this), but their reactions tell us they loved it!
Nearing the end of the anthem, he raises his helmet into the air and hits the last notes proudly.
As the camera rotates, you can see his teammates holding up theirs alongside him! After this incredible performance, it’s no wonder people loved him.
Check out this update on Sam and what he’s doing now!
“Sam has continued to sing the anthem at multiple football, soccer, and basketball games at his high school. He has continued his passion for voice and acting and is currently attending University of Cincinnati as a Musical Theater Major at CCM (College Conservatory of Music). He is part of the class of 2021.”
