Abandoned deformed chihuahua gets a second shot at love

Unfortunately, animals are abandoned far too often. Sometimes, their owners just can’t take care of them. Other times, there’s something wrong with an animal, and people refuse to take on that level of responsibility. Whatever the case may be, it’s heartbreaking to see an animal without a home.

It’s even sadder when it’s likely a particular animal won’t get a second shot. Most people don’t want to deal with a creature with health issues. After all, that’s a huge and costly job. But that means countless dogs, cats, and other furry friends are left homeless every year.

Millions of animals

The data on this phenomenon is shocking. According to PETA, over 6 million cats and dogs are lost, abandoned, or unwanted annually. This figure is only for the United States. Just think what that means for all of those little lives around the world. They don’t have anywhere to go, which makes them incredibly vulnerable.

Luckily, heroes exist

Not everyone is capable of taking care of animals that can’t find homes. But some amazing people do step up and take it upon themselves to help these innocent creatures. These people constantly go out of their way to help animals. What they do is nothing less than inspiring.

Angela Adan is one of these individuals

Angela, from Tehachapi, California, works as an animal rescuer and advocate. Of course, she thinks it’s an amazing job because she gets to help so many living creatures. On the other hand, the job can be really rough. Seeing an animal that’s been abused is difficult. Sometimes, Angela has to shut down her emotions to deal with it.

One pup touched her heart

Recently, Angela got a call about a dog that needed her help. So, she quickly hopped in the car and headed to where the dog was located. She was afraid of what she might see when she got there. After four hours of driving, she finally reached her destination.

The tiny Chihuahua had multiple deformities

At once, Angela could tell this dog wasn’t going to get adopted from the shelter…she just had too many issues. With multiple deformities in her teeth, her head, and her torso, it was highly unlikely someone was going to step up to give her a forever home.

Angela took charge

After this realization, Angela knew what she needed to do. So, she proceeded to adopt the adorable pup and take her home. She’d be living with a ton of other pets at home, and Angela hoped she’d be happy there. She named the sweet dog Freddie Mercury, probably because they have similar teeth.

She’s now getting plenty of love

Freddie’s life might not have been easy before, but now, she’s got everything she could want and more. She has a loving mom, other animals to play with, and a cozy home where she feels safe. Most importantly, she’s finally getting all the love she never got in her past.

Angela shared why she does it

She said, “Dogs teach me to just have fun and to be in the moment. I do my best to just enjoy this time right here, right now, and not worry about what happened yesterday or what will happen tomorrow. Life is short, take breaks when you need it and just enjoy the moment you have right this second.”

Freddie is lucky to have a human mom like her.
