Slice a hot dog in the middle and add an egg - plus 5 other tasty breakfast ideas
Eggs are the best breakfast meals as they pack all the necessary nutrients at the lowest price. Scrumdiddlyumptious has three really fun and creative recipes to get you fueled and ready to go.
Hot Dog Boat
All you’ll need are 20, maybe 30 minutes, for this one. You will need:
- -2 hot dogs
- -2 eggs
- -¼ cup grated parmesan
- vegetable oil
- chopped chives for the garnish
Make an incision down the middle of the hot dogs without coming off the ends as shown in the video. Lay them down on a preheated pan, holding them apart with tweezers so you can crack an egg down the middle.
Cook them under low heat while adding parmesan cheese on top. Cover the pan and allow the eggs to cook slowly. Top them off with chives before serving them on a nice plate. Looks good!
Potato and Egg flowers
This will only take you a good ten minutes. But it’s well worth the time. Chances are you have the following ingredients in your kitchen.
- 1 potato, sliced
- 2 egg whites, whisked
- 2 egg yolks, whisked
- vegetable oil
Cut the potato into thin strips, a la chips, then shape those slices into crescents using a cookie cutter. Lay them on a pan as shown, their edges touching each other, so you can pour the egg whites in that open space.
Set a yolk on top of the whites, then pour the remaining yolks around the outer edges of the potatoes letting them cook over low heat. It’s going to look so pretty on a good plate!
Baked Potatoes
Set aside an hour or two for this one. You will need:
- 2 large potatoes, baked
- ½ cup shredded cheddar
- 6 slices of bacon
- 2 egg yolks
- vegetable oil
- 2 tsp salt
Cut those potatoes down the middle then scoop out the insides and set them on a plate. Don’t discard the leftovers!
Grate cheddar cheese on top, then proceed to gently mash the cheese into the potatoes. Then the best part. Get lots and lots of bacon. Enough bacon to cover the remaining hollowed-out potatoes.
Wrap them well with bacon then scoop in the cheddar and potato mix.
Add egg yolks on top of each then allow them to cook until they turn golden brown. You’ll have to be patient as it requires low heat. Perfect time to finish that cup of freshly brewed coffee.
You’ll want the yolk to be runny when you slice it so it pours down the cooked potatoes and bacon. Just imagine!
Now for more recipes!
Hard boil a few eggs. Grab some corn flakes and pour them into a bowl. Take another bowl and crack 3 eggs, whisking them to get that familiar yellow mix. This one’s easy!
In another bowl, pour in some flour. Grab the white part of a hard-boiled egg and coat it in the corn flakes, egg, and flour. Deep fry!
Get a plate and mash the hard-boiled yolks with some cream cheese with paprika. Put the mixture in a piping bag and squeeze it on top of those deep-fried eggs. They’ll look so good it’d be a shame to not take a picture.
Here’s another baked potato recipe.
Slice a potato down the middle and make small scratch marks with a fork, then grate cheddar cheese on top. Garnish with chopped chives then salt and pepper to taste. Butter!
Crack an egg on top then bake for 325 degrees around 30 minutes. Dig in!
Now for some bread.
Take a piece of white bread and trim the edges. Grate cheddar on top then add a slice of ham. You’ll need a baking pan for cupcakes or something similar. Squeeze in the bread down those holes then crack an egg on top.
Bake for 300 degrees in 20 minutes. Use your best plate for this one.
