Most Important Meal Of The Day
It’s time to get crazy and work with the endless possibilities of eggs!
Eggs are a wonderful source of protein with plenty of disease-fighting nutrients. That’s why this delicious one-pan egg toast is a perfect cereal alternative. This simple and cost-effective recipe will be a new family favorite, so let’s get cooking!
What You’ll Need:
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 -2 slices of your favorite cheese
- 2 eggs
- pinch of salt
- butter
Some Great Add Ons Would Be…
- ham/bacon
- jam (sweet and savory yum!)
- tomato/spinach
- black pepper/paprika
Note: This recipe only yields one egg toast. So double the recipe accordingly.
1. Slice It Up
Start by cutting one slice of bread in half. You can use any type of your favorite bread. This recipe is done with white bread but would work just as well with wheat.
2. Let’s Get Cheesy
Now you’re going to grab your favorite cheese and slice it in half. You can get fancy-schmancy with this too if you desire some pepper-jack cheese, by all means, get that spicy with it! You want a cheese that will melt easily, that’s why the good ole cheddar cheese slice works great.
3. Crackin Eggs
Crack 2 eggs in a small bowl and whisk them a little by using a fork. Then add your salt or any other seasoning you’d like, maybe some black pepper or oregano for extra flavor.
4. Butter That Pan
Take a little bit of butter and melt inside the pan on low heat. You want to make sure you have enough to butter the whole pan.
5. Pour The Eggs
As soon as the butter is melted, pour the whisked eggs into the hot pan.
6. Bread Time
Place both slices of bread in the uncooked eggs and flip them over so each slice is soaked in the egg. Make sure bread slices are facing each other so it folds correctly. When both slices are soaked, cook the eggs as you would an omelet.
7. Flip and Fold
Once one side is cooked flip the entire thing over and fold the extra egg on top of the bread so the bread is completely covered. Then you’ll start filling the open face egg sandwich with cheese or anything else you’d like inside.
8. Turn It Over
Now it’s time to fold over the half slices of bread onto one another so it looks like a sandwich with the filling is inside. Cook on both sides until the cheese is melted and get ready to indulge!
