While most restaurants are closed for take-out only people have been cooking more than ever before. If you weren’t already cooking you’re definitely whipping something up in the kitchen now. New recipes can be extremely intimidating which steers people away from cooking often. But those quick and easy recipes are the perfect addition to your cookbook. Everyone loves a great potato.

This simple recipe is a fun new twist on your usual mundane potato. Introducing the Tornado Potato! An excellent side dish or at-home happy hour bite, this 8 ingredient recipe is easy peasy.

Let’s Grab Those Ingredients

  • 2 medium white potatoes
  • 1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic
  • optional parsley for garnish

Before We Start Preheat The Oven To 325° F

Then you’ll want to grab your potatoes and two long skewers. Start by poking the skewer all the way through each potato longways. It will look like the picture below. The next step is the trickiest part of the entire recipe but it’s simple once you get the hang of it.

You’ll want to grab a sharp knife

Start at the top to slice at an angle all the way around the potato by spinning it while you cut. You want to make sure you’re cutting it 36o down and around the skewered potato. Then Comes The Fun

Unravel your sliced potato! Make sure to spread out each spiral, it’ll look like a “potato tornado”. You want to make sure each individual spiral has plenty of space to get the yummy seasoning on it.

Butter Believe It

With the melted butter using a brush to spread it all over the spiraled potato. This will help the seasonings stick to the potato for the most flavorful potato tornado.

Seasoning Time

With your gathered seasonings grab a large mixing bowl and mix the paprika, parmesan cheese, garlic, salt, and pepper all together. Now it’s time for them to meet the potato tornado! Grab one skewered potato and place it over the bowl. With a spoon begin to pour the seasoning onto the buttered potato and it will stick right onto it. Once you’ve seasoned the entire potato make sure to grab the 2nd potato and season just as well.

All Dressed Up

After your potatoes are all dressed up and ready to go, lay them down on a baking sheet. Have the skewers hanging off to the side of the baking sheet so the potato gets enough space to cook all the way through.

Oven Time

Put those delicious potatoes into the oven for about 25-30 mins.

Potato Tornado Reveal!

Pull those spuds out of the oven and let them cool enough to put on a serving placed! Garnish them with parsley or extra seasoning you have and you’ve got yourself a tasty tornado!
