Diver crams hand inside shark to help it not knowing it was communicating with other sharks

Putting your hand inside a shark’s mouth is a different kind of “dedication”.

We’ve all seen this movie before. It starts with the deep, sinister notes.

Then, under the water and from the unknown, a hunter swiftly swims and catches its prey in its jaws.

But this isn’t “Jaws”. This is life.

Since Steven Spielberg’s movie was shown in cinemas, mankind has never been the same.

The director later issued an apology for putting sharks in a dark light but the damage has already been done.

This damage is the same thing that stops you from accepting a challenge when asked the question:

“How much money would make you put your hand into the mouth of a shark?”

Cristina Zenato will do so for free.

When diver and ocean activist moved to the Bahamas, Zenato quickly fell in love with scuba diving

. She’d spent years underwater while interacting with its wildlife.

It was during these years that she met her second love. It was the very same thing that can make a person run to shore when a fin peeks out from the water – sharks.

Zenato’s love for sharks took a big turn.

As she was swimming with them, she noticed that some of them have hooks snagged in their mouths. These must’ve been hooks meant for bigger and commercially consumed fishes like blue marlin or tuna.

Zenato knew that it was painful and was causing great discomfort to the shark.

So when one of them, Foggy Eyes, swam up to her, she knew she had to do something.

She said to The Dodo that whenever the shark opens her mouth, she could see a hook clinging inside the shark’s mouth.

It needed to come out.

No one will ever know what took over Zenato that way but she just shoved her hand inside the shark’s mouth.

Zenato removed the hook.

The shark frantically swam away. However, as moments passed, she felt a nudge on her side.

She saw the same shark just resting its head on her lap as if trying to thank her for what she did.

It was then that Zenato realized that these creatures are much more intelligent than they let on.

As days and months passed, Zenato noticed that more and more sharks are coming up to her.

“Word” had gotten out.

Of all these sharks, she noticed one common thing. They all have hooks in their mouth.

Somehow, Foggy Eyes told her friends that a wonderful human being is helping them with the fishing problem.

It was truly a story made for movies.

Zenato shared that the experience taught her a lot about sharks. It was truly a surreal experience, according to her, to be trusted by a wild animal.

She also added that she only wanted to make the sharks’ lives better.

“We may still be a little bit afraid of sharks, but we need sharks,” she said to The Dodo. “The sharks are vital for balancing the ecosystems. And this planet survives on the balance of the oceans.”
