When men and women around the world need a mid-life makeover, they know there’s one place to go where they can count on a fresh, new look they’re sure to love.

Christopher Hopkins, also known as The Makeover Guy, has been running his “appearance studio” in Minneapolis, Minnesota for over a decade now and caters specifically to men and women over the age of 40 who need a big change. And his clients now fly in from everywhere for a little bit of his time.

This is partly because of the viral fame of his YouTube channel where his before and after videos often amass over 1 million views and receive tons of great feedback. He’s a pro at both completely transforming people as well as simply making them a more glamorous version of themselves by bringing out their natural beauty.

One of his many viral videos involves a woman named Lori who happened to be from the area. Lori was a divorcée in need of a fresh start on more than one level. And Hopkins was just the man to do it.

Back in 2014 when he uploaded the video, he originally included some extra detail in the caption, including the roles of some of his team members in her complete makeover:

“I have to admit I had extra fun with Lori because we graduated about the same year from nearby high schools in Southwestern Minnesota. I think this may be one of my favorites. Amy Zwievelhofer took Lori’s hair from blah brown to beautiful auburn, meticulous makeup by Amy Goulet or Kami Klevin I’m not sure. And I did the cut which needed more length still.”

When asked about her aspirations for the transformation, Lori agreed to let Hopkins and his crew do whatever they wanted. They are the professionals, after all!

Unfortunately, Hopkins didn’t have quite the amount of length he wanted on top to work with, so he was hoping to see Lori come back for a refresh in 6 months.

While she didn’t always look thrilled to be in the chair, she loved her outcome.

Hopkins did his best with what he had and gave Lori a look she later described as one that “took the small town out of me.”

The two got plenty of joking in about her current cut before we really saw the magic happen.

Even after her stunning restyle, Lori still wanted to tease the back of her hair (into what we now call the “Karen”) but Hopkins did his best to put a stop to it.

No more hair teasing – that’s “so 80s!” She needed to let that top layer grow down and out, not pouf it up!

Eventually, Lori realized how much more flattering it looked to just leave her hair alone.

With a brighter, slightly more copper color and a cut she loved, Lori felt ready to take on the world. And she was sure she could replicate the style herself at home.

Her makeup got an upgrade as well with a foundation that evened out her complexion, an emphasis on shaping her brows, as well as eyeliner and mascara that drew attention to her newly smiling eyes.
