Candles– You won’t need really large candles. In fact, tea light size ones are the most ideal to use for the project.

Terra cotta flower pot– You can use one or two pots. If you go with the latter option, get two sizes. One of them needs to be slightly smaller.

Hardware- You’ll need bolts, nuts, and washers if you decide to make a two-pot heater

Base– Bricks and cement blocks are good. Alternatively, you can also use glass and muffin pans.

The process is quite simple. All you need to do is place your base on a flat surface. Place your candles on top of the base if you are using cement blocks. If you are using pans, place the candles inside them.

Carefully light the candles. After that, you can cover them with the pot positioned upside down.

For this, the process is quite similar. The only difference is that you’ll need to use a few pieces of hardware to make a shelf where the larger pot will rest.

If you are looking for a cheaper solution to warming your home, then the short answer is yes. A clay pot heater is cheap, easy to make, and efficient. The materials required to make it are probably already in your home.

It’s also doesn’t rely on electricity. You can use it even when there’s an outage in your area.

While the idea works, it still has its limitations.

For example, it’s not a good idea to use it in an enclosed space for a long time. It burns oxygen and produces the gas carbon monoxide. Plus, it’s a fire risk.

Because it’s small, a clay pot heater may not last overnight. It may also not be enough to heat large rooms.

Things to keep in mind

Although a DIY flower pot heater is easy to make, there are still things a few things you need to consider to make it right.

For example, don’t use larger candles. They may cause the pots to overheat and crack. Plus, remember to use no more than 4 candles at a time.

Additionally, don’t use scented candles. You’ll just end up with a massive headache if you use them. Also, avoid using glazed pots. They’ll give off fumes that are bad for your health.
