Woman shares DIY shower cleaner recipe that works wonders
It’s so important to keep your home clean, not only to make it look nice and smell great but also for simple hygiene and sanitary reasons.
This is especially true in the bathroom, where germs love to breed and multiply in damp and humid areas around the shower and bathtub.
We all have our own favorite products and cleaning solutions for the bathroom, but you could save yourself a lot of time and money by mixing up this magical ‘Dawn & Vinegar Shower Cleaner’ in your own home.
A lady named Eliza, who runs a blog called My Azona, saw a few posts on sites like Pinterest about the so-called ‘magic’ cleaner and decided to give it a try herself, sharing a video tutorial on how to make it and some footage of the amazing results it had in her bathroom!
Here’s all you need to make the cleaner:
- Some Dawn dish soap
- A little vinegar
- An empty spray bottle
Yes, it really is that simple. And the results of this affordable home hack might just blow your mind.
It turns out that when you mix Dawn with vinegar, you can create a super powerful cleaning solution that can tackle even the toughest of stains, as Eliza demonstrates in her video.
In the clip, she shows off some hard water stains that have accumulated in her bathtub over time and then reveals the effects of the cleaner on those stains.
The image below shows about half of the tub still covered in stains, on the right, while the left-hand side has been treated with the cleaning solution and looks as good as new!
The difference between the stained section of the tub and the cleaner part is like night and day, and this just goes to show how effective the magic Dawn cleaner can be.
The Dawn dish cleaning liquid is a pretty good cleaner on its own, but the vinegar really helps to take it to the next level. Vinegar has been used for thousands of years for all kinds of home remedies and cleaning solutions, as well as being a key part of many recipes, so it’s no surprise to see it in this home hack as well.
So how do you actually make the magic cleaner? Well, you basically just need to blend equal parts of Dawn and vinegar in the spray bottle and then spray it out onto the areas you wish to clean up.
Before you start mixing, however, Eliza recommends heating the vinegar a little. She’s not entirely sure if this really changes anything, but many online guides say that it’s a key part of the process, so it’s probably worth doing.
