When you have your own home it becomes a sanctuary of who you are. A home is an endless project where you get to personalize every corner to make it yours. Might as well create a comfortable space that makes you smile every time you walk in the door. That’s probably the best part about all of the projects and nails on the wall, is when you get to see that final product every day.
It’s rewarding to build your home into something not only you but other people love to walk into.
A home is a place to create memories as the chapters of our lives grow our home follows suit. Sometimes you’ll notice a room that just doesn’t look right… when the Feng Shui is totally off. That is exactly what happened to this man as he grew so tired of looking at his dining room table.
You could say it just didn’t mold with the room well.
You don’t realize how important a dining room table is until you have one of your own. You’ll quickly notice that it’s a place where a good amount of days are spent. If that’s breakfast and coffee in the morning, to helping the kids with homework, to a nice dinner shared with the family. The dining room table is a grand centerpiece in a home and it was time for this family to revamp theirs.
Well… more than a revamp, this man tossed that table right out!
Look at all of that room! He didn’t have any desire to shop from store to store for a perfect table so he decided to build his perfect table with his own two hands! This DIY is one to leave you happier than ever at the table.
They began taking measurements of the entire area and bolted a long wood plank to the longest wall. Along with smaller support planks at each wall stud.
They attached seat supports that are about 20 inches from each other. Adding horizontal and diagonal planks to make sure the seats don’t bend.
He added not studded planks to the other side of the wall and anchored all of the planks into the floor.
They anchored the other side of these “soon to be” seats into the floor and into thinner walls.
Then they added the seat framework which will have modifications due to the heating vent.
They used 2-inch seat foam for extra comfort.
Cushion time!
They used outdoor fabric to upholster these seats for durability and stain resistance.
Start with putting the fabric underneath the foam and plywood on top. Staple lots and lots.
Add trim to keep everything nice and in place. Paint it all up to match.
Ta-Da! This Dining Room Transformation Is Breathtaking!
