People are making DIY sushi trains during lockdown and they're absolutely amazing

While we all know that practicing self-isolation is a must in containing the spread of the pandemic, that doesn’t mean that we are immune from boredom and longing over the things that we used to do.

For some people, one of the things they miss the most these days is the time when they can still enjoy hanging out with friends and family while enjoying a plate of sushi. Who could resist the delicious Japanese dish, right?

Other than getting served in the traditional way, enjoying sushi can also be through eating it in a restaurant with belt conveyors. It is a modern way of serving sushi and a much more efficient one, too.

With belt conveyors, people get to choose the sushi they want because these restaurants are mostly after giving their customers a chance to customize their orders. People also love the fun of waiting for their orders in the conveyors.

Because we are on lockdown, these restaurants along with others in the food industry, need to lessen their business hours or even close down business while the pandemic is being contained. This means people have to wait for the lockdown to be lifted before they can enjoy having sushi with their friends and family again…or so most of us thought.

Some people are not too willing to wait anymore that they decided to make their own sushi conveyors within their homes! Their DIY sushi conveyors are absolutely admirable!

Of course, installing an actual conveyor belt is not possible. So, what people did is that they used toy trains to convey their sushi for everyone in the house to enjoy. What a creative way of serving sushi for dinner, huh!

People have been posting their incredible sushi trains and we can’t help but be amazed. The idea is simple but definitely innovative.

Everything started with a mom from Australia who only wanted her daughter to be happy. She knew that sushi was her kid’s favorite and so, she made her very own sushi train to bring a smile to her child’s face.

Using her four-year-old’s train set, Katherine Bowman set-up the table and made a sumptuous sushi dinner for her daughter Sierra, who was awed and amazed by her mom’s creative idea.

“She was so excited! Even her two-year-old twin sisters were excited. They all wowed at it and jumped straight up onto their chairs for dinner,” the 29-year-old mom and freelance writer said.

Katherine’s family used to live near a sushi restaurant with a conveyor that Sierra called a “sushi train”. They have moved to another place since then but the child still prefers sushi and always loves to visit when she hears about new sushi trains nearby.

Everyone’s getting bored while on lockdown so Katherine decided to make something special, particularly for her daughter who absolutely love’s sushi.

Her idea went viral online and soon after, other people are posting their own sushi trains!

Another woman posted about her fancy DIY sushi train where plates go around in the table filled with maki and sushi with a plate of sashimi in the middle of the train set. Just wow!

Her post said:

“Sushi train fun for the boys today to celebrate the weekend and screen free day! We just made do with whatever food we had in the house.”

It seems people get more creative with their food while on lockdown, huh. Maybe all you need is your kid’s toys and a bit of creativity and you can also make a fun meal for everyone to fight the boredom.
