Dog gets her 1st wheelchair and bursts with happiness running for the first time
When Pigeon the pup was suddenly hit by a car, a traumatic spinal cord injury left both of her hind legs paralyzed. But, that didn’t mean it was the end of the world for this lovable pooch.
In fact, she’s actually having a wheelie good time!

It could have gone either way when first responders took Pigeon to an animal shelter after they discovered the dog’s back legs had been mangled in a car accident.
But a very determined vet could see that the 1-year-old pitbull was in otherwise good health, and decided to save her life.

Of course, it wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns at first. After all, Pigeon had lost the use of her back legs and would need extra special attention from the right person.
Most people don’t want to deal with special needs animals, but Erica Cannon was more than happy to adopt the sweet girl.
“She tried so hard the first month and got so frustrated with how slowly she was moving,” Erica told Inside Edition.
It took all of the pup’s energy just to scoot around with her front legs and drag her bum half behind her.

When humans are paralyzed and can’t walk, they have wheelchairs that help them regain their independence. Why not do the same for paralyzed dogs?
Eddie’s Wheels for Pets does precisely that!
They make wheelchairs for dogs, and it was an absolute game-changer for this lucky pup.

Like anyone suddenly having to deal with change, it took a while for Pigeon to get used to using round shapes instead of stick shapes as her main mode of transportation.
But after a while, her new wheels soon became an extension of her body.

“The second we put her in a wheelchair, she became a different dog,” Erica said. “Most dogs don’t take to their wheelchairs immediately. Pigeon truly acted as if her chair was an extension of her body and it was amazing.”
Who the heck needs a bunch of gangly legs anyways when you can do zoomies so much faster in some custom-made hot wheels?

Pigeon uses her wheelchair every day, which helps her keep up with her siblings when they go for walks or play in the yard.
“She will literally bark at us to put her in it, she loves it so much.”
One of her favorite things is flipping herself onto her back so she can doggy wrestle.

You can keep up with Pigeon and all her adventures on her Instagram and TikTok, where her parents update followers with all of her cute antics.
She’s also the unofficial CEO of Wheelie Good Dog Treats, an all-natural dog treats company her parents set up “with a mission to give back to both local rescues and the special needs pet community.”
