You’ve probably heard stories about pet owners who had to get rid of their pets because they were too aggressive towards other animals or even people, but this story is actually the complete opposite.

The owner desperately wanted to have a dog that people would fear to protect his home.

When he noticed that his new four-footer was actually very friendly and sociable, the dog apparently had to go.

Understandably, the poor four-footer was completely flabbergasted and had no clue what was going on. After all – he wasn’t a bad dog, never mistreated his family, and always followed orders, and yet he’s thrown away like trash.

Absolutely horrible. No matter how much this poor dog waited and cried, the owner would not let him go back inside the home and didn’t want anything to do with him anymore.

Because this dog wasn’t fearsome enough, he was expelled from his own home.

It was even more heartbreaking when the owner had to leave the home, and then returned back. Of course, his pooch was very excited and was already hoping that he’d be able to return inside, only to be stood up by his owner again.

Another day, the owner actually returned with another, angrier and more intimidating dog.

It was clear that the poor four-footer was replaced, but he still had hoped to one day rekindle with his owner and be allowed back in. But naturally, the owner ignored and neglected his former pooch and denied all responsibility.

Luckily, a local rescue organization received a tip about this dog and one of their crew members decided to investigate.

The animal rescuer showed up at the place and met the friendly and sociable dog, who still seemed hopeful. The woman knocked on the home’s door, but no one would ever answer it. Luckily, the person who tipped off the animal organization also had the owner’s number, so they decided to try and contact him that way.

A phone call confirmed everyone’s suspicion: the owner didn’t want anything to do with this poor dog anymore.

Of course, the rescuer wasn’t about to leave the place just like that, as she approached the dog and tried to befriend him. She gave him a large bowl of water and he eagerly drank from it, and actually wondered if he had a drink or a meal in a long time. After he drank the water, the pooch sat at the door of the house again, still hoping to be let inside.

The dog didn’t seem completely malnourished, so she assumed that the owner actually had a little bit of heart left and provided him with food and water – until a neighbor revealed what was actually going on.

The neighbor saw what was going on and approached the rescuer, and that’s when she learned the full story. The owner did not give him any food or water at all, rather, it was the entire community who looked after this dog. The neighbor also revealed the dog’s name: Leo.

The neighbor was a bit sad that Leo would be taken away, so to speak, but he knew it was for the better.

The animal rescuer proceeded to go to the veterinary office, where he was treated for a tick and flea infestation, as well as some ear injuries. After a good bath, Leo started looking a lot more fresh and healthy too. It’s amazing what a difference clean fur can make.

Leo seemed to bond with the rescuer, and they actually went for an awesome lakeside walk the next day, feeling as happy as ever.

Luckily, finding a forever home didn’t prove to be too difficult for Leo, as a loving family adopted him after four days. And this time – his kindness was appreciated, not frowned upon.
