Water-loving dog acts like he has to pee just so he can go out and jump in the pool

When it comes to cooling off, people and animals have a few options to choose from. In many cases, staying inside with the air conditioner going is all that it takes.

Another option is to enjoy some time in the backyard in the shade, or better yet, in the swimming pool.

There it sits, all nice and sparkly, the backyard swimming pool provides the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer’s day. And, it would seem, is a favorite hangout area for people and their pets.

This includes one Boston terrier who can’t seem to get enough of his family’s above-ground pool.

Using a sneaky ploy to get more pool time

This dog has a sneaky way of getting in his swim time.

Instead of begging to go into the pool, he sits quietly by the door and acts like he needs to go out to use the bathroom.

But he has an ulterior motive.

For you see, he wants to do more than take a simple potty break once out the door. As soon as his mom lets him out, he runs to one place, in particular, the family pool.

Before anyone knows it, he dives headfirst into the nice cool, water-filled pool, making quite the splash in the process. Then he swims around for a bit before getting out again.

The dog’s mom has come to accept his pool addiction

His mom soon caught on to what he was up to, but she doesn’t mind.

She can’t help but smile at his antics, and besides, sometimes he actually does need to go out to use the bathroom.

“You’re going outside to go to the bathroom, right? You’re not gonna go jump in the pool?” his mom asks in a YouTube video of the incident.

In the video, which has racked up over 277,000 views, the dog is shown swimming happily around the pool. Fortunately, his mom is there to help him if he needs help, but that is not always the case for other dogs.

Are pools safe for dogs?

While it is generally safe for your dog to swim in a swimming pool, there are some dangers you need to watch out for.

First off, you should supervise your dog when they decide to take a swim. This is so you are there if things take a turn for the worst.

You should also limit their time in the pool to prevent them from getting too much water in their system, and raising their sodium levels. Make sure they get plenty of fresh water to drink.

Clean your pool often to prevent the buildup of dangerous bacteria which can get in a swimming dog’s system.

Most importantly, ensure that your pool has an easy way for your dog to exit if needed. A dog can get fatigued from swimming and accidentally drown, and no one wants that.
