People who like nature know just how skittish most deer can be. They tend to run off at the slightest sign of trouble. But one brave deer took an interest in a golden retriever while the dog and his owner were out for a walk.

Best of all, the dog’s owner was able to capture the special moment on video.

A friendly encounter in the woods

In the video, the man and his dog, named Yukon, are out walking near a stream in the woods. While Yukon played in the water, the pair were approached by a fawn that the dog’s owner named Daisy.

Instead of running off, as many deer might do, Daisy decided to check Yukon out.

Not the first time the pair had met Daisey

It seemed Yukon and his owner had encountered Daisy before. During their previous encounters, Daisy would run with Yukon.

On this particular day, Daisy decided that she wanted to play with the dog. Yukon, meanwhile, was busy looking for rocks in the water, but that didn’t deter Daisy.

Daisy just wants to play

The friendly deer hones in on Yukon, trying to get his attention. When that fails, she decides to bounce around in the water. It almost looks like she is dancing.

She wants Yukon to stop what he is doing and play with her. But Yukon is bound and determined to keep looking for stones.

Meanwhile, Yukon just wants to look for rocks

Daisy is determined to get Yukon to play along and continues to dance around in the water. Yukon’s dad even adds a little music to the video to highlight the deer’s moves. Undeterred, Yukon continues his rock search without even missing a beat. Poor Daisy, she wants to play so bad.

So far, the video has gotten over 5.6 million views, with many viewers loving the deer’s playful nature. Many also noticed how determined Yukon was to complete his mission of finding his rocks. Who knows for what purpose?

“This deer thinks she’s a dog and runs with my dog when we go for a walk. This time she was feeling a little frisky. My dog (Yukon) and (Daisy), an orphaned fawn, became friends briefly. Whenever I took Yukon for a walk, Daisy would suddenly appear. This particular day she was in a playful mood, but Yukon could care less. He just wanted to collect rocks for me,” the dog owner wrote on the video.

Getting along

No one knows why Daisy has grown so attached to Yukon. Maybe she thinks he is another fawn, as his golden coat does kind of look similar to hers. Whatever the reason, the video is a cute reminder that different species of animals can get along if they want to.
