One good thing that has come out of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent stay-at-home orders in place in many states is the uptick in pet adoptions. Even with the increased number of adoptions, not everybody can get a pet of their own. Instead, they rely on the pets of their neighbors to act as a sort of surrogate pet.

Sometimes this can lead to a special friendship between neighbor and dog, as was seen in the case of a Boston man and his dog, Paul.

Reuniting with an old friend

In an emotional video, Paul is shown having a sweet reunion with an older man named Chris. Paul had become good friends with Chris over the years. Chris had often given Paul, a Labradoodle, treats whenever they would meet in public.

Unfortunately, Chris had gotten sick at the beginning of the COVID-19 quarantine.

Paul’s fans loved the sweet video

It had been weeks since Paul had seen his friend Chris, but in an adorable video, the two friends are shown reuniting once again.

After Paul’s owner shared it on Instagram, the video became a hit with Paul’s fans, getting over 45,000 views.

Meeting up with Chris

In the video, as Paul and his owner make their way to a local convenience store to meet Chris, his owner explains what is going on in the text:

“Since Paul was a puppy, he became best friends with my neighbor, who waits for him every morning at Cumberland Farms with dog treats. At the start of the pandemic, our neighbor became sick and we haven’t seen him in months. This morning he was back, and they were reunited.”

As the two make their way down the street, Chris can be heard on the video shouting to his friend Paul. As they near Chris, Paul can be seen pulling on his leash in excitement, getting more excited the closer they get.

Finally, they round the corner and there Chris stands.

Paul, his tail wagging like crazy, runs up to his old friend, sniffing on him to make sure it is really him. Soon, Paul is leaping up into Chris’ arms, letting him know just how much he missed him. As the reunion continues, Chris starts feeding Paul a series of treats, which he has sitting on a nearby window sill.

“Yesterday we were so excited and surprised by the outpour of love and support for our dear neighbor, Chris,” Paul’s owner said in a comment after the video went viral. “He is a neighborhood staple and spends his mornings ensuring all the puppies of the neighborhood are greeted with a treat and a smile on their morning walks.

“He was thrilled to see our clip went viral. When asked if he needed anything, he simply responded, more dog treats for the neighborhood puppies. If you want to send him treats, dm me. I will do my best to keep up with your notes.”
