Stray dog attempts to steal stuffed unicorn 5 times from store
In many cases, stray dogs across the U.S. simply just want to survive, taking their next meal whenever they can get it.
One dog, though, decided he wanted something else entirely, and he wasn’t going to let anything stand in his way.
Sisu had a desire
All a dog named Sisu wanted was a stuffed unicorn. He even went to the length of trying to steal the plushy, and not just once, but an amazing five times.
Sisu hatches a plan
Sisu, determined to own the purple unicorn, broke into a Dollar Tree in North Carolina a total of five times before store employees finally tired of his antics and locked the door.
Thwarted at every turn
Before the employees grew wise to Sisu’s antics, he would sneak into the store and grab the unicorn off the shelf.
Each time an employee would see him before he could get away and retrieve the toy from him. A store employee finally called the Duplin County Animal Shelter to come help them with Sisu.
Giving Sisu what he wanted
“We got a call from our communications center that [Sisu] was at a Dollar General going in and taking a unicorn, and he’d done this five times,” Supervisor Joe Newburn, with Duplin County Animal Services, told The Dodo. “So, finally, they had to lock the door and not let him in. When my officer got there and found out he wanted the unicorn really bad, she purchased it.”
That officer was Samantha Lane. To her, after so many attempts to steal the toy, she thought it was only fair that she buy the stuffed animal for Sisu.
“She was just buying the unicorn because that’s what she does. Every animal she comes in contact with she does that for,” Newburn said.
As for Sisu, he seems to love his toy.
As to why he is obsessed with it, no one knows. The consensus is that he associates with the home he used to live in.
Now that he has it, though, he is not letting it out of his sight, at least until it gets dirty.
“He’s always with that thing,” Newburn said. “The only time he doesn’t mess with it is when it gets dirty. But once you wash it and clean it up, it’s back to being his buddy again.”
Finding Sisu a new home
The plan is to send Sisu and his unicorn buddy to the Lab Rescue of North Carolina.
Once there, he will receive help with his aggression towards other male dogs. Once he has worked his way past that issue, a forever home will be found for him.
Wherever he ends up, Sisu will have his buddy to keep him company.
