GSD and baby have epic game of tag, leaving mom no choice but to record the adorable event

Confident, courageous, and smart, German shepherds make a great family pet. One of the best things about the dog breed is that they usually work well with children.

A video online has proven this point beyond a shadow of a doubt.

A friendly game of chase

In the video, a German shepherd named Zeus is filmed playing a game of chase with 11-month-old Leo MacDonald. The video starts with Leo giving chase after Zeus as he runs through an open archway into another room.

Leo seems tickled to death as he crawls across the floor trying to catch up with his friend.

But, of course, little Leo is not quite fast enough to catch up to the energetic dog. Soon, the German shepherd comes around behind Leo through another archway. This causes Leo to stop, giggle, and give chase again, this time in the opposite direction.

This continues throughout the video, with Leo crawling to catch up, only to lose sight of Zeus. That is until Zeus comes around behind him to surprise Leo over and over. Eventually, tiny Leo gets wise and follows Zeus into the other room. After a few seconds, Zeus runs out with Leo in close pursuit.

All in all, it seemed like a great way to spend the afternoon, especially for Zeus who is full of energy to begin with. It is awesome that Leo has a lifelong friend in Zeus who is willing to play along and keep him entertained.

Do dogs and babies get along?

The biggest question is can babies and German shepherds get along? A new baby can present some challenges, especially when it comes to your dog.

Dogs are creatures of habit for the most part and develop a schedule of sorts over time. By adding an infant, you change this routine, which can leave your dog feeling left out.

How to get your dog ready for a new addition to the home

To get your dog ready for a new baby, you need to start preparing them for the new schedule in advance. This allows your dog to adjust more easily. You can acclimate your dog to the presence of a baby by playing baby sounds before the infant arrives. Reward your dog for a positive response to these sounds in the form of a treat or a play session.

Taking these steps, and others that you can find here, helps to ensure that your dog and baby get along and hopefully become lifelong friends.
