Ranger the German Shepherd couldn’t understand why his beloved owner was gone for so long. Luckily, the wait was soon to be over.
Everyone knows that dogs miss their owners when they can’t be around them.
Dogs form such strong attachments to their favorite people. They hate being apart from them for any length of time.
Ranger the German Shepherd was having an especially hard time.
His owner, Staff Seargent William Abel, was an active serviceman. He had no idea why his owner had to leave for such long stretches of time.
Luckily, Abel’s friend was more than happy to look after Ranger. Whenever the serviceman was on active duty, the friend took Ranger in.
The friend kept Ranger company during the long months. But of course, the dog wanted his owner back badly.
One time when Abel’s tour was up, the serviceman and his friend decided to surprise Ranger in an amazing way.
The friend took Ranger out to his backyard. The dog was happy to run around.
The friend threw the dog’s favorite toy as far as he could.
Naturally, Ranger raced after the toy.
While the dog was distracted, the friend opened the gate behind him.
Abel walked into the backyard.
Ranger turned around and couldn’t believe his eyes and nose. His owner was standing in the backyard.
So Ranger ran back faster than ever, desperate to say hi to his favorite person.
The dog ran into Abel’s arms.
The serviceman began petting the dog.
Then the dog started yelping with joy.
Ranger only got louder. Abel kept on petting him.
At one point, Ranger looked up at the friend, as if to say, “Can you believe he’s back!?”
Luckily, someone was filming this emotional reunion. The footage then ended up on YouTube, where it went viral. To date, it has gained over 1.3 million views. It also has more than 250 likes and dozens of comments.
People have been saying things like this:
Abel and Ranger had lots of catching up to do. Over the following days, the serviceman and dog went on many walks and spent every second together.
Since this video, Abel has adopted more dogs. One of these dogs, Bear, is also a German Shepherd.
Bear hates it when he sees dogs on the TV, as Abel has also shown the world.
In the video, the second a dog walked into shot on the news report on the TV, Bear started barking away. Bear couldn’t stand the sight of him.
Abel’s other dog was cool with the TV dog and looked at Bear with confusion.
Then Bear started whining up to Abel, asking his owner to make the TV dog go away.
Abel pet Bear in an attempt to get the dog to calm down. But soon Bear was back to barking at the TV dog, which wouldn’t take the hint that he wasn’t wanted.
Clearly, Abel takes good care of his dogs. They hate it when he’s away. But he has a very good reason for being apart for so long!
