Dog refuses to stop barking until someone stops and helps save abandoned human baby
Dogs are pretty smart when you think about it. Even without humans, dogs have survived for tens of thousands of years on their own. And when with their human owners they have made their empathy for others and decision-making skills known.
So, when one man came across a barking dog, he knew immediately that something was up.
On a ride in the mountains
Juntrell Fuentes Revilla had been riding his motorcycle along the mountain roads in Cebu in the Philippines. So far, the ride had been pretty relaxing as Revilla enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
As he rode on his bike, enjoying the wind in his face, he saw something odd. A dog had begun to chase his bike, but the whole situation seemed slightly off.
A dog gives chase
In many cases, a dog chasing a motorcycle means only one thing, the dog has aggressive intent. But not this time. As the dog chased Revilla, he noticed the dog didn’t seem to be attacking him. Instead, it seemed concerned about something, but what.
A shocking discovery
Stopping, Revilla noticed that the dog just stood there barking. Just like an old Lassi movie, it seemed like the dog wanted Revilla to follow him. Finally, getting off his bike, Revilla followed the dog.
Not knowing quite what to expect, Revilla followed the dog up a mountain near a dumpsite. As the journey continued, the dog led Revilla to a tiny package. To his surprise, the package was moving. Checking it, Revilla discovered an abandoned baby.
Getting the infant help
The dog had led him right to the baby as if it knew the newborn needed help. Grabbing the small child, Revilla rushed it to the Department of Social Welfare to get help. The baby was examined and determined to be okay. It seemed the stray dog had somehow known the baby was in danger.
News about the dog’s actions spread like wildfire and before too long people were wanting to know more about the hero dog. A local animal rescue called Hope for Strays decided to step in and help the dog if they could find it first.
Hope for Strays
Workers with Hope for Strays were able to find the dog at the dump. As it turned out, he wasn’t a stray at all. They found the dog, who was named Blacky, with his owner, a man who lived near the dump. Blacky lived with the man and three other puppies.
And while Blacky was already with a family who loved him, the community still wanted to repay him for his good deed. To this end, people supported Blacky and his family with food, pet supplies, and other items.
It seemed Blacky had helped more than just the baby, he also ended up helping his family.
