Laws have already been made to prevent cruelty toward animals, however, a lot of cases of animal cruelty still gets unnoticed and unpunished.

It’s still hard to believe that there are really cruel people who would physically abuse home pets such as dogs. They would relentlessly beat them up and treat them like trash. We always call them “man’s best friend”, but to some people and households, they are being treated otherwise.

Although laws are there to protect animals’ welfare, not all animal cruelty cases are being noticed and attended to accordingly. Sadly, animal abusers come from all genders and ages – even kids!

Sometimes, we don’t deserve dogs.

One of the many victims of animal abuse was Millie. According to reports, when she was still a puppy, the poor dog was mercilessly beaten up by a group of children. What the kids did to her was beyond imagination because Millie’s face ended up being severely smashed.

What’s even more shocking about it all was that the children also shot the already beaten up dog several times – in her face! What could be possibly in their heads while doing such cruelty? How did the youngsters even manage to possess such a deadly weapon?

Surprisingly, Millie weathered that nightmare and survived all her injuries. However, the severity of the wounds made a huge change on the poor dog’s face. Her face became slightly deformed, her snout was damaged and her right eye had to be removed.

Unlucky but lucky.

Fortunately, Millie was found by animal activists. Soon, they put up a fundraising event for the dog which helped her to be transferred to the UK by a group called Wild at Heart Foundation.

Dr. Scott Miller attended to Millie’s medical needs, and although she was in a bad shape, she knew the brave pup was going to survive.

After her story became viral, help and prayers came in pouring for Millie. Thanks to everyone, she was eventually given a clean bill of health and was adopted by Kasey Carlin.

She immediately fell in love with Millie from the very first time that she saw the pup. So, with the help of Google translate, she reached out to the shelter where the dog was to show her interest in bringing the adorable pooch home.

Start of a new beginning.

Millie’s fighting spirit and positive attitude helped her recover fast and it didn’t take long before she was ready to be a dog again! It was like nothing had happened to her.

“In less than three weeks, her Russian shelter had raised the transport fees, while I fundraised in the UK and in partnership with my charity Wild at Heart Foundation. In less than a week, we had raised the funds to get her the specialist care she needed that would give her the life-changing surgery she desperately needed,” Kasey shared.

She now lives with Kasey and her two dog siblings, Mishka and Maggie. Millie’s story didn’t just become the talk of the town but it also turned into an eye-opener for everyone.
