Dog befriends a wild coyote and owner captures the rare moment on camera
They always say that a dog is a man’s best friend, but the concept of friends definitely applies to dogs and other animals too. And sometimes, dogs can even pick out some very unusual and unlikely friends – such as a dog and a cat, for example. The following story is a little bit more adventurous than that, as this four-footer decided to befriend a wild coyote in the woods.
Rocky is an adorable black German Shepherd and loves running around the woods and exploring the area. One day, he met a wild coyote and they seemed to get along rather nicely.
After these two met a couple of times, they now considered each other to be their best friends! Usually, German Shepherds will gravitate towards other dogs or Shepherds in particular, but Rocky’s best buddy is without a doubt, this wild coyote.
The two met actually have known each other for a couple of years, and every time they come across each other in the woods, they go in for some cuddles and playtime.
It’s an absolutely adorable and precious sight to behold, and Rocky’s owner was able to capture one of their heartwarming interactions on camera.
His owner, Mark Lagace, posted the footage on YouTube where it quickly became popular with over 200,000 views.
The two four-footer friends are running around in the snow and playing around, running back and forth. They also don’t forget to give the human owner some attention, who was more than happy to enjoy the spectacle.
Even though both dogs and coyotes are a part of the canine family, there are definitely some major differences between both of them, which makes them an unlikely pair.
For example, unlike dogs, coyotes are known to be nocturnal animals. In other words, they’re a lot more active at night than during daylight. Pooches definitely love to take a nap at night and are a lot more energetic during the day.
Coyotes and dogs may look similar from a quick glance, but there are also certainly some noticeable differences. For example, their facial structure is a lot sleeker with a pronounced snout and flat forehead.
Their legs also seem a bit longer, which is actually due to the fact that they walk differently and align their paws when running and walking around.
Coyotes are generally also less energetic and playful, but this one certainly doesn’t mind having some fun with Rocky!
They’re obviously very comfortable around each other and know each other well, and it’s just beautiful to see an unlikely friendship like theirs blossom. Coyotes have quite the reputation to be unfriendly, especially towards other animals, but he’s always treated Rocky with respect and affection. Those cuddles definitely prove it!
Over the years, their bond has only gotten stronger, and they’re always in for a lengthy play session whenever they meet each other.
Luckily, Rocky heads to the woods with his owner on a regular basis so they don’t have to miss each other for too long.
