Homeless dog visits the car wash every single day to use their convenient “petting machine”
All dogs appreciate a nice petting occasionally. Unfortunately, not all dogs have an owner to help them out. One homeless German shepherd in Turkey has found an ingenious way of getting her daily pats without the help of a human. A video of her using the local car wash’s “petting machine” has quickly gone viral, garnering over 177,000 views.
Linda patiently waits her turn
In the video, the stray (named Linda) can be seen waiting patiently for her turn at the car wash. In front of her, a white van is getting scrubbed down by the roller brushes. Soon, it is her turn and she steps forward. As the brush comes down, she rubs her body up against it. It doesn’t seem to hurt her as it gives her a good back rub.
Getting a full rub down
She even walks between the bristles of the brush and it seems to scratch her exactly where she needs it to. With her body completely scratched and massaged, she finally walks away. Pretty amazing, right?
Luckily, someone got it all on video and a Twitter user posted it online.
“Linda, a stray dog in Turkey, comes to the same car wash a couple of times a week to use the automatic petting machine,” the poster said.
After seeing the video, some watching became concerned that the stray must have a hard life on the street.
Another Twitter user was quick to point out that, “The ring in her ear means that she’s a stray and has been spayed by the local shelter. The guy in the video talks about her affectionately, they’re probably taking care of her.”
Others added their commentary to the since-deleted post, writing: “Omg she’s adorable.”
Another added, “I wonder how many times per day she does this?”
Why do dogs like to be petted?
But why exactly do dogs like to be petted so much? More than likely it is because of a few factors. The first is that it just feels good. Dogs generally enjoy contact with other dogs, humans, and animals. So, it’s only natural that Linda has found a way to get this desire met.
Petting has some health benefits
Petting is also said to lower blood pressure and reduce dogs’ heart rate, according to researchers. As for Linda, she has become quite famous in her neighborhood. Whenever she sees the car wash starting up, she runs over to get her daily rubdown.
Winning the hearts of people on the Internet
In addition to the locals, Linda has also now won hearts of the internet. The video below shows Linda getting a rubdown at her favorite place in the world – the car wash’s petting machine.
