This dog and cat are blowing up Instagram with their travel photos
These days it seems that getting the perfect picture from your vacation, hike, or even your dinner, is more important than actually doing any of those things. Instagram is ruling our world. It’s completely changed trends in travel, food, lifestyle, but really culture in general.
However, it makes scrolling your feed a little boring to see the same pictures from the same places, doing the same poses. Until this gem of an Instagram account showed up – a traveling dog and cat duo showing off all the amazing places they get to go.
Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend wanted to get a puppy. So, they went to an adoption event back in 2014 hoping to get a golden retriever mix. But then, just sitting there, was Henry. Something caught Bennett’s eye with this dog.
“They said he was only 3 and a half months, but he was like five times bigger than the other 3 and a half-month old puppies. And he had these long legs, and the body type of a wolf or husky,” Bennett recalls in an interview with The Dodo.
A unique look he had, but she didn’t know he had the personality of a professional hiker. Not just yet at least.
When Bennett went into the kennel to meet him, Henry went right up to her.
“He just curled up into my lap and went belly up and flipped his head over my arm,” Bennett said. “And from then, I decided that he was coming home with us.”
Bennett and her boyfriend are huge outdoor enthusiasts. That’s why they moved to Colorado, so they could go on adventures on the weekends.
Quickly, they realized they have a dog that also shares the same passion for nature.
“I think we only had him for three days when we took him on our first hike, which was to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs,” Bennett said. “He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge.”
Henry has earned the nickname of ‘little mountain goat’ because of his fearless hiking skills.
As time went on, Bennett and her boyfriend wanted to extend their family. They wanted to get a kitten.
“I really wanted a rescue kitten,” Bennett said. “I’d looked for five months, and I saw lots of different kittens, but none of them really had the right personality or fit. I knew that I wanted to take him anywhere — camping, hiking.”
Now, this seems like a tall order. How do you find a cat that wants to be put on a leash and go hiking? Not to mention riding in a car to get to the hike. Do you know how cats behave in cars!?
Bennett must have incredible luck on her side when it comes to adopting animals, cause she found that special fur-ball she was looking for. She found a Siamese kitten mix by the name Baloo at a local shelter.
Just like Henry, Baloo attached himself to Bennett at first sight.
“He ran right up to me,” Bennett said. “And he was the one who played, but he wasn’t the most rowdy.”
“I call them brothers, but I think Baloo thinks that Henry’s his mom because he constantly looks for a teet,” Bennett said. “So he’ll go in, and you can tell he’s looking, because he’s nuzzling under Henry’s armpit.”
The two friends always want to be close to each other.
