This woman’s beagle and cat are best friends forever, showing that friendship doesn’t recognize species

This woman’s cat and beagle are loving buddies, and her Beagle proved it by giving his cat best friend a hug by the window.

Any pet owner knows that you should share anything cute that your pets do on social media. It’s just an unspoken rule at this point. In a world full of negativity and bad news, some pictures of cats and dogs being cute is one of the things that keeps us going.

And sometimes, the cuteness goes a step further when best friend bonds develop between two animals

Lisa Olsen-Plummer’s two pets, Jasper the cat and Bo the Beagle, developed just that. Lisa, had Jasper for quite a while already before she introduced the beagle into the mix. Naturally, the cat wasn’t initially fond of learning he was no longer the only pet in this house.

Bo was curious and cautious, being the newer pet. Jasper and Bo’s early days of living together were shaky, of course. Bo would make the house his very own play area, running here and there and wherever his fun demanded.

Jasper preferred to sit quietly in his own spots and observe the antics of his beagle housemate from afar. Lisa, though, noticed that the once awkward, unfamiliar atmosphere between the two of them began to ease with each passing day

Then as time went on, and pets lived like pets, Jasper and Bo had warmed up to each other.

Gone was their hesitation, replaced by friendship and love. In fact, Lisa would soon be assured of this

As a cat, Jasper takes a liking to sitting by windows and looking out. The universal pastime for all cats. One day, the birds outside the window had Jasper’s attention. As Bo noticed Jasper’s bird-watching hobby, he wanted to join his friend.

So onto the couch Bo climbed, right next to his friend.

Then the unexpected, but utterly precious, happened. Bo stretched out his right paw and gave his feline BFF a hug

There was not a shrug or a flinch from Jasper. Not even an awkward glance. With as much comfort as you could see from a cat, he gladly accepted the hug from his beagle best friend and stayed by the window with Bo’s paw around him. This is when Lisa knew, without a doubt, they were best friends.

“It was almost like he was telling him, “It’s OK! Let’s play. I think that’s where Bo learned the hug from.”

And much like schoolyard best friends, Jasper and Bo regularly have play-fights that escalate into real ones

Their sometimes petty play routines amuse Lisa, who often needs to break it up for them much like their mother or a preschool teacher.

“They play hard and instigate on another. Sometimes it causes a fight and I make them split up – just like the kids.”

Though no amount of occasional quarrel is enough to put a dent in their friendship. Even after they have “disagreements”, they still end up snuggling next to each other at the end of the day.

In a world where everyone is a “stranger”, and appearances stop many of us from interacting, maybe we should take our cue from Jasper and Bo.
