When you get a dog, a bond usually develops between you and your pet very quickly. A dog’s love is unconditional, and they miss you when you have to go away. After a German shepherd’s owner had to go away for military duty, the dog probably thought he would never see his human parent again.

Boy, was he surprised when he turned around one day and saw his owner sitting there, waiting on him with open arms.

A sweet reunion between a dog and his owner

In a video, the German shepherd, named Ranger, is shown playing fetch with the person who is taking care of him while his owner is away. As far as Ranger knew, he would never see his owner again. He had been gone for weeks.

So, when the time came for his owner to return home, a little surprise was in order.

A game of fetch

As the friend and Ranger played fetch, his caretaker threw the dog’s favorite toy, called the “Green Monster,” all the way to the back of the yard. By doing so, Ranger’s owner would have time to make his appearance.

As Ranger ran to retrieve the toy, his owner slipped out the door and crouched down to wait on him. As Ranger runs back with the ball, his owner can be heard telling Ranger to come to him. What happens next is simply adorable.

The two are reunited

As soon as his owner came into view, Ranger immediately ran toward him. At first, it seemed like he couldn’t believe his eyes, but after giving him a few sniffs he knew it was him. Then Ranger was rubbing all over his owner, his favorite toy still in his mouth.

He was so happy that his owner had finally returned.

Ranger’s owner is all smiles as he pets his loyal companion on the back and head. Ranger can’t seem to get enough of him as he continues to circle his returned owner. The happy dog even gives a few barks to show just how happy he is that his owner has returned.

The two share an unbreakable bond

Ranger’s excitement at seeing his owner once again was evident. It just goes to show how much your dog misses you when you are gone and are quick to remember the ones who love them the most. The bond these two share is unbreakable by distance or time, and this video goes to show that.
