Dog chases Google street view car and hilariously 'ruins' each photo
In 2007 Google Street View began with coverage on just a few cities in the United States, which has expanded globally over the past decade.
Google’s team has been able to capture some impressive views over the course of time, from a combination of aerial drones, camera-equipped cars, and on-foot trekkers.
With the expansion of the tool, people are able to surf the world from the comfort of their own homes. Any avid user knows that the cameras have captured the remote, the amazing, and the downright bizarre.
With constant mapping efforts, there’s no doubt that the surrounding world would intervene at some point.
A particularly comical episode comes from Japan where the Google Street View car captured the attention of a sassy little dog.
The Shiba Inu, a breed native to the country, curiously decided to follow the passing map car as it proceeded on its route.
The brave dog became lovingly known to the internet after the funny incident was shared. Viewers instantly fell in love. The dog was discovered in Kumage District, Kagoshima in Japan.
One commenter voiced their affection:
“I laughed so hard when I saw how far it chased the car!”
The Google car was simply passing down the street but the dog immediately sprinted towards it as he took notice.
Users can roam the exact location on Google Maps to check out the adorable shots featuring the curious pup. The shots initially feature the dog in a playful stance, but for no rhyme or reason, the dog begins to chase the car down the road. Even as the car is driving at a decent speed the dog refuses to give up on the pursuit. This dog definitely deserves a few treats for his efforts!
The chase eventually had to end as the car hit a dead end on the route. Nobody truly knows what happened after that, although the dog was cutely committed to the chase the entire time.
Also, a mystery is how someone came upon this curious instance in the first place. Was it a random click on somewhere in the world? Did they actually need to scout the area? Either way, they were given quite the priceless visual treat.
According to experts, car-chasing is a very inherent and natural behavior in dogs. Their natural instinct is to chase anything that moves, whether it’s a cat, a rabbit, wheels on a car, or a bicycle. This instinct may kick in and be derived from both predatory or playful behaviors. So when this Shiba Inu decided to make a run for the mapping car he was naturally defending his territory. Perhaps with a bit of play included as well.
Follow this dog’s journey for yourself in the interactive Google map below (turn the car around to watch the cute chase in action).
