Big German shepherd loves to be pet — cries like a baby whenever his owner stops
Extremely loyal dogs, German shepherds love it when their owners give them attention. Easy going and approachable, once they get to know you, this breed of dog makes a perfect family pet and an excellent watchdog. So, what happens when a German shepherd becomes such a big part of the family that he becomes like one of your kids? He starts acting like one, of course.
Dunder the German shepherd
When it comes to getting pet, Dunder the German shepherd doesn’t like for it to stop. He likes it so much that he even cries like a baby when it does! A video of his antics has gone viral on YouTube, where it has received over 3 million views and 30,000 likes.
A hilarious video online
In the video, his mom is petting him on his chest. He has a look of perfect contentment on his face as she continues to pet and give him the belly rubs he loves so much. As soon as she stops though, he starts to whine like a baby. He even reaches up with his paw and seems to try and push her arm to start rubbing him again.
To test her theory, his mom stops rubbing his belly once again, and, just like clockwork, Dunder starts whining again. This prompts his mom to continue rubbing – and, just like that, the dog is in heaven once again. This leads one to wonder, is he just a spoiled brat or does he really loved to be pet that much?
Why do dogs like to be petted?
The biggest question is why do dogs love to be petted so much? Well, according to scientists, petting is one way that you can let your dog know that you are there for them. It is related to their pack mentality, with many dogs preferring being pet to receiving praise. It is through your touch that your pets know that you love them.
Is petting beneficial for dogs and humans?
In addition to letting your pets know that you love them, petting also helps soothe your pet’s nerves, calming your dog down in tense situations. As for you, one of the benefits of petting your dog is the release of oxytocin, a bonding hormone, as well as a lowered heart rate and blood pressure.
The best areas to pet your dog
For the most part, dogs love any petting that they can get. The best areas to pet your dog include the chest area, belly, and along their back. Dogs don’t like to be petted on their legs and do not like to have their tails grabbed. Overall, spending time with your dog and petting them is great and can help you build a stronger bond with them.
