Deer are known for being timid creatures, but this one wanted nothing more than to make friends with this dog.

Anyone who has encountered a deer knows that they’re usually shy, scared animals. But every rule has its exception, as this video proves.

One day, Greg decided to take his dog, Yukon, for a walk in the woods.

When they stopped off at a riverbed, a baby deer approached them. Greg assumed that the deer would soon run off, but instead, it got closer.

Greg stood still, not wanting to scare off the animal. But Yukon, his curiosity aroused, approached the deer slowly. When the two animals were really close, Yukon sniffed around. Amazingly, the baby deer didn’t run away. Instead, she interacted with Yukon.

After a while, the baby deer slowly went on its way, and Yukon came back to his owner. Greg was amazed and couldn’t believe what he had witnessed.

But the next day it happened again. Greg took Yukon for a walk in the woods, and at almost the same spot, the baby deer approached the dog.

Greg realized that he might end up seeing this friendly deer more often in the future, so he decided to name her Daisy.

For the next few weeks, Daisy and Yukon would play several times a week. Whenever Greg and Yukon went for a walk, Daisy was there. The two animals would chase each other and generally frolic in the area. Greg had had no idea that deer could act like this!

Luckily, one day, Greg decided to record Daisy and Yukon’s interactions.

When Yukon and Daisy went to play in the river, he hit record.

The video began with the two animals playing at different parts of the river.

Then Daisy walked up to Yukon. Then the deer started jumping about like crazy, trying to get Yukon’s attention.

Yukon wasn’t too impressed by this and turned away. Daisy got much closer to Yukon, clearly trying to get the dog to play.

But Yukon was more interested in looking for rocks for his owner.

The deer ran right up to the dog again and started sniffing at him. She just wanted to play with him, but Yukon clearly wasn’t in the mood.

Still, Daisy was energetic, so she kept on dancing around while Yukon looked for more rocks.

Shortly after capturing this footage, Greg uploaded it to YouTube. It soon went viral.

To date, it has managed to receive over 5.5 million views, 1,700 likes and 150 comments.

This video just goes to show that animals are much more like people than we realize. Daisy, the baby deer, was just trying to make a new friend and play with him, much like how children do.

It’s a shame that Yukon didn’t want to play with the animal in the video, but he and Greg often go back to that spot and play with Daisy.

Everyone knows that dogs are man’s best friend, but judging from this video, they could also be deer’s best friend. Or perhaps Daisy is just an abnormally friendly deer. Nature sure is amazing!
