Super chill dog can’t help but fall asleep in the pool with her favorite ball in her mouth
Some dogs simply can’t get enough of the water. This is especially true of dog breeds specially bred to go in the water. One such breed is the golden retriever. Golden retrievers were bred specifically to retrieve birds from the water when out hunting with their owners.
For one golden retriever, the water has a way of relaxing her, leading to her falling asleep. This was caught on video by her owner who then posted it online.
Myla loves the water
Named Myla, the dog has loved the water ever since she was a puppy. She also knows that when she is around the water it is time for her to relax. Fortunately, Myla has become quite the expert at relaxing while she is near, on, or even in the water.
“Myla doesn’t necessarily want to swim for a long period of time, but just enough to cool off,” John Sabol, Myla’s dad, told The Dodo. “She loves sitting in a couple of feet of water near the shore or on the pool steps. When she’s done, Myla loves just lounging by the lake or by the pool sitting on the lounge chairs and just relaxing.”
She grabs her ball when it is pool time
Now at six years old, Myla knows as soon as her parents are planning to go out to the pool to hang out or go swimming. Usually, this is by seeing them don their bathing suits or breaking out the beach towels.
As soon as she does, she automatically grabs her tennis ball for some relaxing time in the pool.
Myla likes to get in a little exercise first
“She will do a couple of laps back-and-forth in the pool when we throw her tennis ball, but really her favorite is to just lounge and sit there on the pool step and relax,” Sabol said. “Myla will sit on that step for up to a couple hours with the ball in her mouth, almost as if she’s waiting to be served with a drink.”
Next, it is time to relax
Afterward, Myla gets so relaxed when she is in the pool that she tends to fall asleep, often with her ball right in her mouth. This is not a sign of her getting old, according to Sabol.
“She’s not necessarily tired, just a very content, chill, relaxed pup,” Sabol said.
Just resting her eyes
Fortunately, for everyone, Sabol was able to catch Myla taking a nap on Twitter. The video has over 494,000 views on the social media site.
“Myla falls asleep in the pool with the tennis ball in her mouth almost every day,” Sabol wrote on the video. “She catches herself rocking to her right here, but the best is when her nose hits the water as she falls asleep. Dogs, bruh.”
And, just like a human, whenever Myla is awoken from her slumber, she likes to pretend like she wasn’t even resting her eyes at all.
