Concerned dog finds hospital 20 blocks away on her own to visit her sick owner

How much does your dog love you?

Do they feel sad and anxious when you’re not around? Do they feel lonely whenever you leave them for work? Do they jump around in joy whenever you’re around?

While most of you will answer yes to these questions, there’s one characteristic that your dog can’t level with – how many times did your dog escape just to get to where you are?

In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a miniature Schnauzer escaped her house.

The dog, named Sissy, belongs to Nancy Franck. Franck has been staying in the hospital for about two weeks that time when she was recovering from surgery.

Sissy was then left to her husband Dale Franck. Her husband has been taking care of Sissy and her brother Barney.

That night, Dale noticed that Sissy was gone.

“I kept checking everywhere, calling out, ‘Sissy! Sissy!'” he recalled to ABC News. “I was pulling my hair out.” It was around 1:30 AM that time.

And no matter how hard Dale searched for her, the dog was nowhere to be found. He was already worried but he also don’t know where to start looking.

And then, at 5:30 AM Dale received a call.

It was from Samantha Conrad, a security officer working at Mercy Medical Center. Coincidentally or not, it was also where Dale’s wife was staying after surgery.

“She found my number and house address from her tag on her collar,” Dale Franck said. “I was so relieved, and I asked my daughter go and pick her up.”

In a surveillance footage shared by the facility, you can see little Sissy march through the hospital doors. Dale shared that he knew Sissy was on a mission that night to see her mom, it was just that she can’t find the right elevator.

Dale and Nancy’s daughter drove to the hospital to pick up Sissy.

She didn’t take Sissy home immediately when they got her, however. They were, after all, already in the hospital. Luckily, the facility obliged and permitted them to say ‘hi’ to her mom.

“She told her mom, ‘I got a surprise for you!'” Dale Franck said to the news outlet. “My wife was like, ‘How’d you get her in here? Did you sneak her under your coat?”

Their daughter explained the situation and said that the “little spoiled brat” escaped their house just to see her.

Sissy made a 20-block journey just to get to Nancy.

“The only thing I could think of was that Sissy used to ride with me to pick up my wife from work next door to the hospital,” Dale Franck explained his theory to the news outlet. “But we’ve never walked that route before.”

“She has a close relationship with Sissy,” he added. “Sissy’s 11 now, and we bought her when she was just about 8 weeks old. She came up to me, scratched my leg and fell asleep on my shoulder. I’d say we didn’t pick her, she picked us.”

Nancy has been battling uterine cancer but her doctors believe that most of the cancer is gone.
