Never underestimate the power of a smile.

Given the right opportunity, it has the ability to completely turn someone’s day around. With the heavy load we’re all currently facing, one simple smile can go a long way.

But what happens when we’re able to get that smile from a furry friend?

There’s a reason we call dogs man’s best friend. They have the ability to teach us so many things. The range is wide and almost limitless. Everything from their personality to their demeanor, to their willingness and unconditional love, makes them a perfect match for our souls. With little waver, they offer themselves in abounding loyalty.

It goes without saying, even if we’ve had a bad day, they’re patiently waiting to make it a good one again. As soon as we get home, dogs are happy to see us. Their enthusiasm remains the same, day in and day out.

Take this adorable Border Collie for example.

In a video posted on YouTube, his owner tells him to smile for the camera. And every time he goes to flash his pearly whites, his smile gets funnier and funnier. Not to mention it’s incredibly adorable!

Dogs are ready to hand out their love no matter the situation, and this boy is here to bring the loveliest cheer!

With the camera in his face, he stares it down with wide eyes, anticipating his owner’s encouragement.

His owner commands him in a cheery voice, “Smile!” – She then asks of him, “Can you smile for the camera?”

The result is so cute and funny that you’ve no choice but to smile yourself!

His smile is a toothy display that sends his owner into fits of laughter. You can hear how smitten she is with her furry friend. With a giggle she admits, “It’s not a good one.” But her heart is touched, and we love it too!

This infectious grin is taking the internet by storm. With over 81k views, people are leaving their love and adoration for this pooch in the comments.

As it turns out, Border Collies are one of the most eager to please breeds out there. Not only that, they’re incredibly smart.

According to Dog Time:

“The Border Collie is highly sensitive, often responsive to the subtlest command and seemingly able to predict his owner’s desires in advance.”

Just one look at this happy boy and you can tell he maintains a close relationship with his owner. His ears perk when she speaks to him, and his eyes widen with the desire to please. You can tell he’s patiently trying to decipher what his human is asking of him. It’s with this intent stare that he’s carefully reading his owner’s body language and listening to the pitch of her voice.

And as for the smile?

According to Purina:

“Dogs can make their faces appear to smile. This happens when they open their mouths and pull back their lips, letting their tongues lap over their teeth. This “dog smile” usually occurs in situations when they are relaxed and appear happy, which is why dog owners think it is a smile. These “dog smiles” also often occur in response to a human smile, which is a phenomenon called laughter contagion. Dogs may appear to smile because we smile at them.”
