Dog has funniest reaction when she sees someone sleeping in her bed
Pet owners understand how great the bond is between owner and pet.
Some would say it is the pet that chooses its owner. We’ve seen so many adoption videos wherein people look for pets to adopt, yet the pet can tell whether the person is the perfect one for them.
We see this often with dogs.
The moment they see and smell someone, they know they have found their forever home. From that moment onward, the bond forms and strengthens, and nothing can separate a dog from its human. That bond forms a sense of recognition from dogs.
This dog’s reaction to someone sleeping in her bed is a great example of that.
At first, Puddy seemed confused. I mean, it’s her bed, after all. Seeing a huge, gray, furry figure on top of it confused and surprised her. (Imagine seeing someone else sleeping in your bed, right?)
But you can see how her tail wagged in just a few seconds.
Dogs wag their tail for many reasons, ranging from happiness and excitement to nervousness and anxiety. However, the way Puddy wagged tells us she is excited, and we could only wonder why.
She started sniffing around the ‘figure’ on his bed.
She went around it, still sniffing, but at that point, we already had an idea that underneath the blanket was someone she knew. Puddy kept sniffing and sniffing and trying to find an opening to reveal who it was!
Ta-dah! It’s her mommy!
Puddy just enjoyed burying her face under the sheets and, eventually, her mommy. Her behavior in this incident is classic behavior of dogs who knows their fur-parent so well.
Dogs can identify their owner’s smell.
Studies show that they can smell better than humans and are better at moving air in and out of their noses. This allows them to pick up more scents than humans. They can also smell as far as 12 miles away, depending on the wind speed and the type of scent.
Another study showed that dogs could remember the scent of their hooman.
In a separate study, dogs respond positively to the biological odors of people (or other dogs and animals) that they are familiar with. This includes their owners, people, and animals who live in the same household.
This is why Puddy’s reaction was only natural.
If a dog can recognize the scent of its owner and can smell from 12 miles away, it is without a doubt that Puddy knew who was under the blanket. Of course, the surprise came with the sight of the figure on top of it; but the scent definitely gave it away.
Why did she continue sniffing around the blanket?
Well, that’s a dog’s playful nature. She probably knew it was a hide-and-seek game, so Puddy came to play. I think she was also looking for a way in to finally reveal who it was.
In the end, both dog and human were glad to see each other again.
